"Confinement and Concern"

Part 6

As Zelda stood frozen, taking in the sight of Link's restrained form, the door to the dungeon room burst open and two staff members, Nurse Elara and Guard Thane, rushed in, their faces etched with worry and frustration. "What in the name of Hyrule's gods were you thinking?" Nurse Elara exclaimed, her voice loud and urgent. "Look at him! He's showing all the signs of touch starvation - the glazed expression, the listlessness, the way he's not even responding to the princess's presence!" Guard Thane shot back, his face reddening. "Hey, we followed protocol, Elara. The advisor's orders were clear - we were to minimize any stimulation or interaction with the...ah...individual." Nurse Elara's eyes widened in outrage. "Minimize stimulation? You mean completely cut him off from any human contact? That's cruel and inhumane! And what about his emotional well-being? Have you considered the long-term effects of touch deprivation on a Hylian?" The advisor, who had been quietly observing the scene, stepped forward, her expression tense. "I understand your concerns, Nurse Elara, but we had to take precautions. Link is a risk to the kingdom, and-" "Precautions?" Nurse Elara interrupted, her voice rising. "You've taken him from his friends, his family, and his kingdom. You've taken away his freedom, his dignity, and now you're taking away his humanity? How can we expect him to recover from that?" As the argument continued, Zelda's eyes remained fixed on Link, who was indeed behaving strangely. He seemed...disconnected, as if he was floating in a world of his own. She felt a pang of guilt and regret, wondering if she had made a terrible mistake by agreeing to this. Nurse Elara turned to Guard Thane, her voice firm. "We need to get him out of these restraints, now. We need to give him some human contact, some comfort. It's the only way he'll ever recover from this." Guard Thane hesitated, looking uncertain. "I don't know, Elara. The advisor's orders-" "Forget the advisor's orders," Nurse Elara said, her voice firm. "We're not just talking about security protocols here, we're talking about a living, breathing being. And if we don't act soon, we might just lose him forever." As the two staff members continued to argue, Zelda took a step forward, her heart racing with concern. She knew she had to do something, but she didn't know what. All she knew was that she couldn't just stand there and watch Link suffer.
