The Dream That Wasn't
Part 16
Julie's eyes fluttered open, and she was met with an unfamiliar ceiling. The fluorescent lights above her bed cast an eerie glow, making her squint. As her gaze wandered around the room, it landed on a figure standing by the window, looking out at the city below. His back was turned to her, but she knew that familiar slope of his shoulders, the messy black hair that fell to his nape. A wave of relief washed over her, followed by confusion. Why was she so scared? And why did she feel like she'd been crying? She tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her head, making her wince. That was when she noticed Yoongi's head snap up, his eyes meeting hers with a concerned expression. "Hey," he said softly, walking towards her. "How are you feeling?" Julie's eyes scanned his face, searching for any signs of distress or injury. But Yoongi looked fine, his usual calm demeanor a stark contrast to the worry lines that had etched themselves on her friends' faces in her dream. She tried to speak, but her voice came out hoarse. Yoongi handed her a glass of water, and she took a sip, feeling a sense of normalcy wash over her. As she looked at him, all the memories of her dream came flooding back. The hospital room, Hobi and Jimin's worried faces, the sense of foreboding that had settled in her stomach. "Yoongi?" she said, her voice still shaking slightly. "What...what happened? I thought..." He smiled reassuringly and took her hand in his. "You were asleep," he said. "You've been out for a while. The doctor said you're going to be okay, but you need to rest." Julie's mind was still reeling from the dream. She had sent Yoongi back with Jimin to make sure Jimin got some rest...or so she thought. A shiver ran down her spine as she realized how real the dream had felt. She looked at Yoongi, taking in the gentle smile on his face, the softness in his eyes. It was then that she knew she must have been hallucinating. Yoongi was right here, and he was fine. The events of her dream seemed so real, but they were just that – a dream. As she processed what had happened, Julie couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story, that her subconscious had been trying to tell her something. She pushed the thought aside, focusing on the present moment. Yoongi was here, and he was safe. "I'm glad you're here," she said, her voice still shaking slightly. Yoongi brought his chair closer to her bed and sat down, taking her hand in his. "I'm not going anywhere," he said. "You're safe now." The room was quiet for a moment, the only sound the steady beep of the hospital equipment. Julie's eyes locked onto Yoongi's, and she felt a sense of gratitude wash over her. She was glad he was here, and she was glad that he was okay. But as she looked at him, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was still off. What had caused that dream? And why did it feel so real? The questions swirled in her mind, but she pushed them aside, focusing on the present moment. She was safe, and Yoongi was here. That was all that mattered.
