"Unspoken Fears"

Part 44

As we walked back to school, the group of us chatting and laughing, I couldn't help but steal glances at Oslo. He seemed to be back to his usual self, joking and teasing the others, but I knew it was just a facade. I had seen the look in his eyes, the flicker of fear and uncertainty. I fell back to walk beside him, my eyes fixed on his profile. He was gazing ahead, his expression neutral, but I knew he was still hiding something. "Hey, Oslo?" I said, my voice low. He turned to me, his eyes questioning. "Yeah?" I smiled, trying to keep my tone light. "You know, I was thinking...are you scared that I'm not only gonna be there for you?" Oslo's expression changed, his eyes narrowing slightly as he studied me. For a moment, I thought I saw a flash of vulnerability, but it was quickly replaced by a hint of amusement. "Scared of what, exactly?" he asked, his voice teasing. I raised an eyebrow, trying to keep my tone playful. "That I'll abandon you, leave you hanging?" Oslo snorted, rolling his eyes. "Kacchan, you're not exactly the type to bail on people." I grinned, feeling a surge of relief that he was playing along. But I knew it was just a distraction, a way to avoid talking about whatever was really going on. As we approached the school, Oslo's expression turned serious once more. "Thanks for looking out for me, Kacchan," he said, his voice sincere. I smiled, feeling a pang of affection for him. "Anytime, Oslo. That's what friends are for." But as we walked into the school, I couldn't shake off the feeling that Oslo was still hiding something from me. And I was determined to find out what it was. As we parted ways to head to our next class, I caught Oslo's eye, trying to convey a message. He raised an eyebrow, a hint of a question in his eyes. I mouthed, "Later," and he nodded, almost imperceptibly. I knew that I had to be patient, to wait for the right moment to push him for answers. But I was ready, and I wouldn't give up until I found out what was really going on with Oslo.
