Airborne Confrontation

Part 3

As the guard dragged Opal away, she struggled against his grip, her anger and frustration building with every step. Wong, still watching from a distance, noticed a subtle change in Opal's demeanor, a focused intensity that hinted at her earthbending abilities. And then, in a flash of movement, Opal lifted her free hand and pointed at the guard. The air around him seemed to ripple and distort, as if an invisible force had taken hold. The guard's eyes widened in surprise as he felt himself being lifted off the ground, his feet dangling in mid-air. Opal's gaze never wavered, her eyes fixed intently on the guard as she exerted her bending abilities. The crowd gasped in shock, and Wong's eyes went wide with amazement. He had seen earthbenders in action before, but never with such precision and control. Opal's powers seemed to be growing stronger by the minute, and he couldn't help but wonder what other feats she might be capable of. The guard, meanwhile, was flailing wildly, trying to break free from the invisible force that held him. But Opal's grip was unyielding, and he found himself being pulled towards her. He tried to shout for help, but his voice was hoarse and barely audible. As the guard hovered in mid-air, Opal took a step closer, her eyes blazing with fury. "You think you can control me?" she spat, her voice low and menacing. "You think you can just drag me away and silence me?" The guard's face was reddening with effort, his eyes bulging with fear. He tried to struggle again, but Opal's powers only seemed to grow stronger. With a flick of her wrist, she sent him flying across the street, his body crashing into a nearby stall. The crowd erupted into chaos, people screaming and running for cover. Wong watched in awe as Opal stood tall, her chest heaving with exertion. She seemed to be savoring the moment, her eyes gleaming with a fierce satisfaction. As the dust settled, Kuvira emerged from the crowd, her face pale and shaken. She glanced at Opal, and for a moment, Wong thought he saw a flicker of fear in her eyes. But then, her expression hardened, and she took a step forward. "You may have bested the guard," Kuvira said, her voice steady, "but you haven't won anything. This isn't over, Opal." Opal's gaze narrowed, her eyes flashing with anger. "I'm counting on it," she said, her voice low and deadly. The air seemed to vibrate with tension as the two women faced off, their powers and emotions locked in a silent struggle. Wong knew that this confrontation was far from over, and he couldn't help but wonder what other consequences would arise from this explosive encounter.
