"A Flash of Vulnerability"
Part 7
The next day, Jaekyung left for his training, his mood still tense from the encounter with his father. Esther watched him go, feeling a mix of emotions. She couldn't help but wonder what had really happened between them, and what Jaekyung's true feelings were. The training session was intense, with Jaekyung pushing himself to his limits. He was a force to be reckoned with on the field, his skills and strength on full display. But as the session wore on, he began to take a beating, his body battered and bruised by the end of it. Esther was waiting for him at home, concern etched on her face as she saw the state he was in. He was covered in blood, his clothes torn and his skin bruised. She rushed to his side, helping him to the bathroom to clean up. As she began to process his wounds, Jaekyung winced in pain, his eyes flashing with frustration. Esther sat on his knees, her hands gentle as she worked, but Jaekyung's expression was anything but gentle. "Don't," he growled, trying to push her away. "I can do it myself." Esther held firm, her eyes locked on his. "Let me help you," she said softly. "You can't do everything on your own, Jaekyung." Jaekyung's face twisted in annoyance, and for a moment, Esther thought he was going to fight her. He didn't need her help, especially not her help. He was strong, capable, and independent. He didn't need anyone, least of all her. But Esther didn't back down, her hands continuing to work on his wounds with a gentle touch. Jaekyung's tension began to ease, replaced by a growing sense of vulnerability. He looked away, his eyes avoiding hers as he struggled to come to terms with his emotions. As Esther finished up, Jaekyung stood up, his movements stiff. Esther followed him, her eyes locked on his. For a moment, they just stood there, the air between them thick with unspoken emotions. Jaekyung's eyes finally met hers, and for a moment, Esther thought she saw something there, something that looked almost like... gratitude. But it was quickly replaced by his usual mask of indifference, and Esther was left wondering if she had imagined it.
