A Troubling Night
Part 10
Zelda had thought that by moving her mattress next to Link's bed, she would be able to get a good night's sleep. She had been worried about Link's condition and wanted to be close to him in case he needed anything. But as the night wore on, she realized that she had been naive to think that she would be able to rest. Link's struggles began soon after the sedative wore off. He would try to free himself from the restraints, his eyes wild with a mixture of fear and determination. The healer had secured him to the bed with soft but sturdy straps, but Link was relentless. He would tug and pull at the straps, his face contorted in effort. When he finally gave up and realized that he couldn't escape, he would start to cry. The sound of his sobs would pierce the night air, and Zelda's heart would ache with sympathy. She would try to comfort him, speaking softly and stroking his hair, but he would just shake his head and continue to cry. This vicious cycle repeated itself throughout the night. Zelda tried to stay awake and comfort Link, but she was starting to feel the strain. She had never seen him like this before, so vulnerable and helpless. It was breaking her heart to see him suffer. As the first light of dawn crept into the room, Link's cries finally subsided. He lay still, his chest rising and falling with shallow breaths. Zelda watched him, worried that he would start up again at any moment, but he seemed to be sleeping. When the morning light fully illuminated the room, Zelda was shocked to see that Link looked almost back to his old self. His eyes were clear, his skin was smooth, and his hair was no longer disheveled. He looked like he had made a full recovery. The healer came in to check on Link, and she was equally surprised by his condition. "It's a miracle," she said, smiling. "I've never seen someone recover so quickly from an illness like this." But despite Link's apparent recovery, the healer still wanted to keep him secured to the bed for observation. "We can't be too careful," she said. "We need to make sure that he's fully recovered before we let him out of here." Zelda was torn. Part of her was relieved that Link seemed to be okay, but another part of her was worried about the healer's motives. Was she just being cautious, or was there something more going on? As she looked at Link, who was watching her with a hint of a smile on his face, Zelda knew that she had to trust her instincts. Something wasn't quite right here, and she was determined to get to the bottom of it.
