A Quiet Moment Interrupted

Part 2

Classes had finally ended, and Ray was looking forward to unwinding. He texted Kai to let him know that he was heading to the university's indoor pool to relax. He didn't want to alarm his boyfriend, but he also wanted to keep him informed. As he arrived at the pool, Ray was relieved to find that it was empty. The warm water enveloped him as he began to swim and float, his stutter momentarily forgotten as he let out a contented sigh. The stress of the day melted away with each stroke. Just as he was getting comfortable, the pool room door opened, and Ray's heart skipped a beat as he saw Kai walk in. His boyfriend was wearing shorts, but his torso was bare, and Ray couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest. Kai went and sat on a chair near the edge of the pool, his eyes fixed on Ray. Ray swam over to the edge of the pool and pulled himself up onto the ledge, his eyes locked on Kai's. "H-hi," he stuttered, trying to sound casual. Kai smiled and leaned forward, his voice low and flirtatious. "Hey, beautiful. What brings you here all alone?" Ray felt a blush rise to his cheeks as he leaned in, his voice barely above a whisper. "I just needed to relax. I had a long day." Kai's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. "I'm glad you came here. You look like you could use some unwinding." As they talked, Kai's flirtation grew more overt, and Ray found himself getting lost in his boyfriend's eyes. They were so caught up in their conversation that they didn't notice the sound of laughter and splashing coming from the entrance of the pool room. It wasn't until Dabo, Tota, and Rakai entered the pool area that Ray and Kai suddenly went silent. They exchanged a panicked glance, and Ray quickly looked away, trying to compose himself. Rakai, however, noticed the strange position they were in and raised an eyebrow. The university principal, shirtless and sitting in a chair, was talking to a student who was leaning out of the pool, his face inches from Kai's. Rakai's eyes narrowed slightly, but he shook off the feeling of unease. He didn't want to jump to conclusions or assume anything. Instead, he grinned and waved at Ray and Kai. "Hey, guys! What's up?" Dabo and Tota swam over to Rakai, and the three of them began to splash around in the pool. Ray hesitated for a moment before joining in, trying to act normal despite the tension he felt. As they swam and laughed together, Kai watched Ray with an intense gaze, his eyes burning with a desire he couldn't express in public. Ray caught his eye once, and they exchanged a brief, electric glance before looking away. The atmosphere in the pool room was now lively and carefree, but beneath the surface, Ray and Kai were both aware of the danger of being discovered. They had to be careful, but for now, they just enjoyed the moment, savoring the closeness they shared, even if it was just for a brief, stolen glance.
