"The Unspoken Truth"
Part 6
As they gathered in the conference room, Shinwon smiled mischievously, her eyes gleaming with amusement. "Before we begin, I'll give you both a chance to guess what this meeting is about," she said, leaning back in her chair. Ryujin and Yeji exchanged a glance, their faces scrunched up in thought. "Is it about the upcoming comeback schedule?" Ryujin ventured. Yeji shook her head. "No, I think it's about the food options in the cafeteria. I've been hearing complaints about the quality of the meals." Shinwon chuckled, her eyes sparkling with entertainment. As they continued to speculate, they didn't even notice that they were sitting less than an inch away from each other, their legs touching. The proximity seemed to have become a normal occurrence, and they didn't give it a second thought. Shinwon cleared her throat, interrupting their discussion. "Alright, let's get down to business. Do either of you know why you've been called here?" Ryujin and Yeji exchanged a confused glance. "No, we have no idea," Ryujin replied. Shinwon pointed at their body language, a sly smile spreading across her face. "You two. Specifically, your... closeness." Yeji's eyes widened, and Ryujin's face turned slightly red. "What about it?" Yeji asked, trying to play it cool. Shinwon leaned forward, her expression serious. "The relationship between you two is supposed to be fake. I thought at first that you were just leaning into the fake relationship, but now it seems like you're actually taking this further than what it's supposed to be. And that's a problem." Ryujin and Yeji defended themselves, their voices rising in unison. "We're just really close friends, Shinwon! We're not doing anything wrong." Shinwon raised an eyebrow. "Really? Because from where I'm sitting, it looks like you two are getting a bit too comfortable with each other." The meeting wrapped up quickly, with Shinwon reiterating the importance of maintaining a professional image. As they left the conference room, Ryujin and Yeji couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. As they walked back to their dorm, Yeji turned to Ryujin, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. "Man, Shinwon was really on fire today. I half expected her to start talking about crop circles and aliens." Ryujin chuckled, shaking her head. "I know, right? I thought for sure she was going to start lecturing us about the importance of flossing." Their joking banter continued, but as they recapped the meeting, their tone gradually shifted. "And then she started talking about the photo booth pictures," Yeji said, her voice a little softer. Ryujin's smile faltered, and she looked away, her eyes drifting to the floor. "Yeah... I don't know, Yeji. I just felt like I had to do it." Yeji's gaze lingered on Ryujin's profile, her expression thoughtful. "You did it for the fans, huh?" Ryujin nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "Yeah... I guess I did." The conversation trailed off, and they walked in silence for a moment. Finally, Yeji broke the silence, her voice laced with curiosity. "So, what are we to you, Ryujin?" Ryujin's eyes snapped back to Yeji's face, a hint of surprise in her expression. "What do you mean?" Yeji's eyes searched Ryujin's face, her voice barely above a whisper. "I mean... are we just friends, or...?" Ryujin's response was immediate, her voice firm. "Just friends, Yeji." The words hung in the air, and for a moment, they just looked at each other. The distance between them seemed to shrink, and they found themselves standing incredibly close, their faces inches apart. As they stood there, the air was charged with a quiet intimacy, not romantic, but a physical closeness that was hard to ignore. They didn't move, didn't breathe, didn't do anything except look at each other. The moment stretched out, until finally, Yeji took a step back, breaking the spell. "Yeah, just friends," she repeated, her voice soft. Ryujin nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Yeah." And with that, they continued walking, the tension between them still palpable, but unspoken.
