**Chapter 10: The Waiting Game**

Part 10

As Rachel waited for David to answer her call, Daisy couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions swirling inside her. Excitement for the baby's arrival, worry about David's whereabouts, and a hint of fear about what was to come all battled for dominance. The hospital room, with its sterile smell and antiseptic sounds, seemed to fade into the background as Daisy's thoughts consumed her. Rachel's voice broke into her reverie, her tone gentle but firm as she spoke to David on the phone. "David, it's Rachel. Daisy's in labor. We're at the hospital. You need to get here ASAP." A pause, and then, "Yes, I know. Just get here as soon as you can. She's doing okay, but she's getting close." Daisy watched as Rachel hung up the phone, a look of reassurance on her face. "He's on his way," Rachel said, turning to Daisy. "He'll be here as soon as he can." The minutes ticked by, each one feeling like an eternity to Daisy. She was trapped in a cycle of pain and anticipation, her body pushing her to move forward, but her mind stuck on the what-ifs. What if David didn't make it in time? What if something went wrong? Rachel seemed to sense her unease, and she reached out to take Daisy's hand. "Hey, you're doing great," she said, her voice soft and soothing. "The baby is going to be just fine. And David will be here before you know it." As if on cue, the door to the hospital room swung open, and a harried-looking David rushed in. His eyes scanned the room, locking onto Daisy with a look of relief. "I'm here," he said, rushing over to her side. "I'm so sorry I'm late." Daisy smiled weakly, feeling a surge of love and gratitude towards her husband. "You're here now," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. David took her hand, his fingers intertwining with hers as he looked at her with adoration. "I'm not going anywhere," he said, his voice filled with emotion. The next few hours were a blur of pain and progress, with Rachel and David taking turns supporting Daisy through the contractions. The nurse came in to check on her, and then the doctor, who delivered the news that Daisy was finally ready to push. As the doctor coached her through the process, Daisy felt a sense of determination rising up inside her. She was going to do this, and she was going to bring their baby into the world. With one final push, she felt a surge of relief, and then, a tiny cry filled the room. Daisy looked up at David, tears streaming down her face. "We did it," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. David smiled, his eyes shining with happiness. "We sure did," he said, as he gazed at their newborn baby, a tiny, perfect little being, lying in Daisy's arms.
