## Betrayal in the Palace
Part 4
The morning sunlight streaming through the palace windows seemed to mock Opal as she made her way to the throne room, her heart still reeling from the events of the previous day. She had left Kuvira's chambers feeling hopeful, even optimistic, about the possibility of a new era of peace and cooperation between their nations. But as she entered the throne room, her expression faltered. Bolin, the Earth Kingdom's esteemed earthbender, was pacing back and forth in front of the throne, his face twisted in a mixture of anger and hurt. "Opal, I need to talk to you," he said, his voice low and urgent. Opal's instincts told her that something was wrong, and she felt a growing sense of unease as she approached Bolin. "What is it, Bolin?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. Bolin stopped pacing and turned to face her, his eyes blazing with a fierce intensity. "Kuvira betrayed me," he spat, his voice venomous. "She promised to meet with me to discuss a possible alliance, but it was all a ruse. She had her guards ambush me, and I was lucky to escape with my life." Opal felt as though she had been punched in the gut. She couldn't believe that Kuvira would betray Bolin, not after everything they had discussed the day before. She thought back to Kuvira's words, her gentle tone and her warm smile, and a wave of nausea washed over her. "No," she whispered, her mind reeling with the implications. "That can't be true." Bolin's face hardened, his jaw clenched in anger. "I'm telling you, Opal, I was there. I saw it with my own eyes. Kuvira is not what she seems. She's using you, just like she's using everyone else." Opal felt a cold fury rising up inside her, and she knew that she had to act. She turned to one of the guards standing at attention near the throne. "Summon Kuvira," she said, her voice icy. "I need to speak with her, now." The guard nodded and hastened to obey, and Opal turned back to Bolin. "I'm so sorry, Bolin," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "I had no idea." Bolin's expression softened slightly, and he placed a hand on her shoulder. "It's not your fault, Opal. Kuvira is a master manipulator. She's been playing us both from the beginning." As they waited for Kuvira to arrive, Opal's anger grew, fueled by the knowledge of Kuvira's betrayal. When Kuvira entered the throne room, her face serene and unruffled, Opal felt a surge of rage. "Kuvira," she said, her voice cold and deadly. "We need to talk."
