"Fears for Sabrina's Life"

Part 4

Nick sat beside Sabrina's hospital bed, holding her hand and willing her to wake up. The machines beeping around her seemed to grow louder and more insistent, but Sabrina's eyes remained closed. He had been by her side since she was brought to the hospital, and the doctors had told him that her condition was critical. As he looked at Sabrina's pale face, Nick felt a wave of fear wash over him. He had never seen her like this before, and it was tearing him apart. He remembered the way she had smiled at him in the studio, the way her eyes had sparkled with amusement. He had taken her for granted, assuming she would always be there, brightening up his day with her presence. The doctor came into the room, his face somber. "Mr. Taylor, we need to talk about Sabrina's condition. She's not responding to treatment, and we're getting worried." Nick's grip on Sabrina's hand tightened. "What does that mean? Is she going to be okay?" The doctor hesitated. "We're doing everything we can, but there's a chance she could slip into a coma. We need to run some more tests, but... " Nick's heart sank as the doctor trailed off. A coma? No, that couldn't be happening. Sabrina was strong, she would pull through. He looked at her, willing her to open her eyes, to smile at him, to talk to him. But she remained still, her chest rising and falling with each labored breath. Nick felt a lump form in his throat as he looked at her. He had never felt so helpless in his life. The doctor continued to explain the situation, but Nick's mind was elsewhere. He was thinking about Samantha, about how this had all happened. He had been so angry with her, but now he just felt sad. Sad that it had come to this, sad that Sabrina was paying the price for Samantha's jealousy. As the doctor left the room, Nick took Sabrina's hand in his and began to talk to her. "Sabrina, please wake up. I need you. I love you. Don't leave me, not now, not ever." He talked to her for hours, telling her everything he had ever felt, everything he had ever wanted to say to her. He held her hand, feeling her pulse grow weaker and weaker. And then, just as the sun began to set outside, Sabrina's eyes flickered closed, and she slipped into a coma. Nick's heart shattered into a million pieces as he realized that he might never hear her voice again, never see her smile. The machines beeping around her grew louder, and Nick felt himself grow numb. He was in shock, unable to process what was happening. All he could do was sit beside her, holding her hand, and praying for a miracle.
