"Uncertainty's Heavy Weight"

Part 24

As I stood there, frozen in time, I knew I couldn't keep Captain Levi in suspense any longer. I took another deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts and emotions. The air was thick with tension, and I could feel the weight of my decision settling in. I looked up at him, my eyes searching for a glimmer of understanding, and saw the concern etched on his face. "Levi," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I have to tell you something." He raised an eyebrow, his eyes locked on mine. "What is it, Kenzy?" I hesitated, unsure of how he would react. But I knew I had to be honest with him, and with myself. "I...I love someone else," I said, the words tumbling out of my mouth like a confession. Captain Levi's expression didn't change, but I saw a flicker of something in his eyes. It was a mixture of surprise and resignation, as if he had expected this all along. "Who?" he asked, his voice low and even. I took a deep breath before answering. "It's Erwin. I've always loved him, but...but I think I might have feelings for you too, Levi." Captain Levi's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in a mixture of frustration and understanding. "Go on," he said, his voice measured. I swallowed hard, trying to get the words out. "I don't know what the future holds, or if I can even make a choice right now. But I have to be honest with you, and with myself. I have feelings for you, Levi, but I also have feelings for Erwin." The room fell silent, the only sound the heavy beating of my heart. Captain Levi's eyes never left mine, his gaze burning with an intensity that made my skin prickle. "I see," he said finally, his voice low and husky. "And what do you think will happen between us now?" I shook my head, feeling a sense of despair wash over me. "I don't know, Levi. I really don't. But I do know that I have to be honest with Erwin, and with myself. I have to explore what I truly want, and what will make me happy in the long run." Captain Levi nodded, his expression unreadable. "I understand, Kenzy. Take all the time you need. But know this: my feelings for you haven't changed. I still want you, no matter what." I felt a pang of guilt and regret, knowing that I couldn't return his feelings in the same way. But I also knew that I had to be honest with him, and with myself. "Levi, I'm sorry," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I really am." He nodded, his eyes never leaving mine. "You don't have to apologize, Kenzy. You have to do what's best for you. And I...I just want you to be happy." I felt a lump form in my throat as I looked at him, my heart heavy with emotion. I knew that I had hurt him, and that I would have to be careful not to lead him on. But I also knew that I had to be honest with myself, and with him. "Thank you, Levi," I said, my voice cracking with emotion. "For understanding." He nodded, his expression still unreadable. "I'll always understand, Kenzy. But I have to ask: what will you do now?" I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. I knew that I had a long and difficult road ahead of me, one that would require me to confront my feelings and make a choice. But for now, I just stood there, frozen in indecision, as the weight of my heartache hung precariously in the balance. As I stood there, I knew that I had to take a step back and think about what I truly wanted. I had to be honest with myself, and with Erwin. And I had to be prepared for the consequences of my choice, no matter how difficult it was. I looked up at Captain Levi, my eyes searching for a glimmer of understanding, and saw the concern etched on his face. "Levi?" I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "Yes?" he replied, his eyes locked on mine. "I need to talk to Erwin," I said, my voice shaking with emotion. "I need to be honest with him about my feelings." Captain Levi nodded, his expression still unreadable. "I think that's a good idea, Kenzy. Take care of yourself, and take care of him too." I nodded, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. I knew that I had a long and difficult road ahead of me, but I was ready to face it head-on. I was ready to be honest with myself, and with those around me. With a newfound sense of resolve, I turned and walked away, leaving Captain Levi and his intense gaze behind me. I knew that I had to think about what I truly wanted, and what would make me happy in the long run. And I knew that I had to be honest with myself, and with those around me.
