The Unexpected Reaction

Part 15

Ashley took a deep breath and decided it was time to reveal the truth. She had been putting it off for too long, and she knew that she couldn't keep it inside anymore. As they sipped their coffee, Ashley reached out and touched Jordan's hand, her heart racing with anticipation. "Jordan, there's something I need to tell you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Jordan looked at her with concern, his eyes searching hers. "What is it, Ash? You can tell me anything." Ashley took another deep breath before blurting out the truth. "I'm pregnant," she said, her eyes locked on his. She had expected a range of reactions, but she had prayed that he would be happy, that he would be excited about the prospect of becoming a father. But instead, Jordan's face fell, and he looked like he had been punched in the gut. "Ash, I...I don't know what to say," he stuttered, his eyes wide with shock. Ashley's heart sank, and she felt a wave of disappointment wash over her. She had hoped that he would be supportive, that he would be there for her and their child. But now, she wasn't so sure. "Please, Jordan, don't be upset," Ashley said, trying to reassure him. "This isn't easy for me either." Jordan shook his head, still looking stunned. "I'm not upset, Ash," he said slowly. "I'm just...surprised. I didn't expect this." Ashley nodded, trying to understand. "I know it's a lot to take in," she said. "But I want you to know that I'm going to take care of this baby, no matter what." Jordan looked at her, his eyes searching hers. "Of course, you are," he said. "You're an amazing person, Ash. You'll be an amazing mother." But despite his words, Ashley could sense a distance growing between them. She realized that he wasn't reacting the way she had hoped, and she didn't know what to do. "Jordan, I know this may come as a shock, but I was hoping...I was hoping you would be a part of this," Ashley said, her voice trembling. Jordan's expression changed, and he looked at her with a mixture of sadness and regret. "Ash, I...I don't know if that's a good idea," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. Ashley's heart sank, and she felt a pang of disappointment. She had been hoping that he would be there for her and their child, but now it seemed like that wasn't going to happen.
