**Chapter 12: The Storm on the Horizon**
Part 12
The sound of Mia's voice on the other end of the line was like a punch to the gut, and Kenzy felt a sense of anxiety wash over her. She hadn't spoken to her sister in a while, and the fact that Mia had called multiple times meant that something was seriously wrong. "Hey, sis," Kenzy said, trying to sound calm, but her voice came out laced with concern. "Kenzy, it's been days," Mia said, her voice tight with worry. "I've been trying to reach you, but you're not returning my calls. What's going on?" Kenzy took a deep breath, trying to think of how much to reveal. She didn't want to worry Mia, but at the same time, she couldn't just brush her off. "I've been busy, Mia. That's all." Mia sighed, and Kenzy could almost hear her frustration. "Busy? You've been avoiding me, Kenzy. And I know it's not just because you're busy. Something's going on, and I need to know what it is." Kenzy glanced over at Levi, who was watching her with concerned eyes. She knew that eventually, she would have to tell Mia about him, but for now, she just didn't want to deal with it. "Mia, I...I don't know what to say," Kenzy said, feeling a sense of panic rising up inside her. "Just tell me the truth, Kenzy," Mia said, her voice softening. "Is everything okay? Are you in trouble?" Kenzy hesitated, unsure of how to respond. But before she could say anything, Levi stepped in, his voice low and calm. "Hey, Mia, it's Levi. I think Kenzy and I need to talk to you about something." There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, Kenzy wondered if Mia had hung up. But then her sister's voice came back on, laced with curiosity. "What's going on, Levi?" Mia asked, her voice cautious. Levi glanced at Kenzy, and she could see the question in his eyes. Did she want to tell Mia the truth? "I think it's better if we talk in person," Levi said finally. "Can you come over?" Kenzy's heart sank as she realized that she was about to have a very uncomfortable conversation with her sister. "Okay," Mia said, her voice hesitant. "I'll be there in 30 minutes." As Kenzy hung up the phone, she felt a sense of dread wash over her. She knew that this conversation was going to be hard, but she also knew that she couldn't avoid it forever. Levi wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close. "Hey, it's going to be okay," he said, his voice soft. "We'll face it together." But as Kenzy looked up at him, she couldn't help but wonder what the future held. And whether she was ready for what was about to come her way. The minutes ticked by, and Kenzy found herself pacing back and forth in the living room, her anxiety growing with each passing second. She knew that Mia was going to be upset, and she couldn't blame her. But she also knew that she had to be honest with her sister, no matter how hard it was. When the doorbell rang, Kenzy's heart skipped a beat. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come. Levi wrapped his arm around her shoulders, giving her a reassuring squeeze. "Hey, I've got your back," he said, his voice low. Kenzy smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him. She knew that she wasn't alone in this, and that with Levi by her side, she could face anything. She took a deep breath, and together, they walked to the door, ready to face whatever lay ahead.
