**Chapter 1: The Unseen Connection**
Part 1
Finney Blake trudged through the school hallways, his eyes fixed on the floor to avoid the gaze of his classmates. He had grown accustomed to the snickers and whispers that followed him everywhere. As he walked, he couldn't help but think of his friend Robin, who had gone missing a few days ago. The police seemed clueless, and Finney's anxiety grew with each passing day. In science class, Finney caught a glimpse of a girl he had noticed before – Ariah Byone. She sat a few rows ahead, her curly honey-brown hair with magenta highlights drawing his attention. He had seen her around school, but they had never spoken. Finney's gaze lingered on her for a moment before he looked away, his mind drifting back to Robin's disappearance. After school, Finney walked home, his heart heavy with worry. As he turned a corner, he noticed a group of kids bullying him. They pushed him around, laughing and jeering. Finney tried to ignore them, but it was hard to take. Just as things were about to escalate, a girl with a fierce expression appeared out of nowhere. She punched one of the bullies in the nose and kicked another in a sensitive area. The group dispersed, and Finney stared at the girl in gratitude. "Hey, you okay?" she asked, her hazel eyes scanning Finney's face. Finney nodded, still trying to process what had just happened. "Yeah, thanks," he muttered. The girl smiled, her full lips curling upward. "I'm Ariah, by the way. I've seen you around school." Finney's cheeks flushed as he introduced himself. As they parted ways, Finney couldn't help but notice Ariah watching him from afar. He felt a flutter in his chest, but quickly pushed the feeling aside. He had more pressing concerns, like finding Robin. Days passed, and Finney's life became increasingly difficult. His father's abuse escalated, and the bullying at school continued. Finney felt trapped, like he was walking on eggshells all the time. One evening, as Finney was walking home from school, he was lured into a black van by The Grabber. The last thing he remembered was the sound of the van's doors slamming shut. Finney woke up in a soundproof basement, his head throbbing in pain. He was disoriented, but as his eyes adjusted to the dim light, he saw that he was in a small, dingy room. A disconnected black rotary phone sat on a nearby shelf. As Finney approached the phone, it rang, shrill and loud. He hesitated, but his curiosity got the better of him. He picked up the receiver, and a faint whisper spoke in his ear. "Hello, Finney." Finney's heart skipped a beat as he realized he wasn't alone. The voices of The Grabber's previous victims filled his ear, offering words of encouragement and advice. Meanwhile, Ariah was searching for Finney, her intuition telling her that something was wrong. As she walked through the deserted streets, she sensed a dark presence lurking in the shadows. Suddenly, a hand clamped over her mouth, and she was dragged into a black van. When Ariah came to, she found herself in the same basement as Finney. Their eyes met, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Finney's eyes widened in surprise, and Ariah's face broke into a warm smile. "Hey," she whispered, her voice barely audible. Finney's heart skipped a beat as he took in Ariah's presence. He felt a spark of hope, and his gaze lingered on her face. The phone on the shelf rang again, and Finney's attention turned back to the voices whispering in his ear. But as he glanced at Ariah, he felt a connection forming between them, a connection that went beyond mere survival. Finney's pulse quickened, and he knew that he wasn't alone in this nightmare. Ariah was with him, and together, they might just make it out alive.
