Chapter 4: Kai's Protective Instincts

Part 4

The sun was shining brightly in the penthouse, casting a warm glow over the room as the AMP members lounged on the couch and chairs, chatting and laughing. Ray was sitting on the floor, playing with his phone, his short, curly black hair bobbing as he moved his head. Kai was sitting next to him, occasionally glancing over at him with a soft expression. The tension from earlier was still palpable, but it seemed like everyone was trying to put it behind them. Agent was sipping on a bottle of water, his thin black dreads bobbing as he nodded along to the conversation. Duke was leaning back in his chair, his blackish-brown dreads cascading down his back like a waterfall. Fanum was sitting on the arm of the couch, his thin black braids framing his face. As they chatted and laughed, Kai's gaze kept drifting back to Ray. He couldn't help but feel a sense of protectiveness towards him. Ray was like a little brother to him, and he didn't want anything to happen to him. After a while, Fanum stood up, his large frame towering over the others. "Yo, let's go play some basketball. I need to get some exercise," he said, his deep voice rumbling. The others agreed, and they all headed out to a nearby basketball court. Ray was excited to join in, and Kai couldn't help but feel a sense of pride watching him run and jump around on the court. Ray was surprisingly good at basketball, and the others were all impressed. As they played, Davis was guarding Ray, trying to block his shots. But in the heat of the moment, he got a bit too aggressive, and accidentally pushed Ray to the ground. Ray fell hard, scraping his nose, forehead, arms, and knees on the floor. The others rushed over to help him up, but Kai wasn't there. He was still on the court, his eyes fixed on the spot where Ray had fallen. He didn't see the accident happen, but he could sense that something was wrong. It wasn't until he heard the others shouting and rushing off the court that he realized what had happened. He sprinted off the court, his heart racing with worry. When he arrived at the penthouse, he was shocked to see Ray's face covered in blood and scrapes. He felt a surge of anger and worry, and he couldn't help but lash out. "What the actual fuck happened?" he demanded, his voice loud and angry. The others looked at him nervously, and Agent tried to calm him down. "Kai, calm down, it was an accident," he said, his voice soothing. But Kai wasn't having it. He was furious, and he could see the fear in Davis's eyes. "An accident, huh? Well, I want to know who caused this so-called 'accident'," he said, his voice cold and menacing. Davis looked down at his feet, his face pale. "I-I didn't mean to, Kai. It was an accident," he stammered. Kai's anger was boiling over, and he could feel his heart pounding in his chest. He was going to make sure that whoever was responsible for Ray's injuries paid. But before he could do anything, Ray spoke up, his voice calm and gentle. "Kai, it's okay, I'm fine. Don't worry about it," he said, his brown eyes looking up at Kai with concern. Kai's expression softened, and he felt a wave of relief wash over him. He looked at Ray, really looked at him, and saw the scrapes and bruises on his face. He felt a pang of guilt and worry, and he knew that he had to take care of Ray. "Go upstairs, Ray. Please," he said, his voice gentle. Ray nodded, and headed upstairs, with Duke and Agent following close behind. Kai was left standing there, his anger and worry still simmering just below the surface. He turned to the others, his eyes blazing with intensity. "What happened?" he demanded, his voice low and menacing. The others looked at each other nervously, and Davis spoke up, his voice shaking. "I was guarding Ray, and I accidentally pushed him. I didn't mean to," he said, his eyes downcast. Kai's expression darkened, and he took a step closer to Davis. "How do you 'accidentally' push someone?" he spat, his voice cold and angry. But before things escalated further, Agent intervened, his voice calm and soothing. "Kai, Davis didn't mean to. It was an accident. Let's just calm down and focus on getting Ray okay," he said, his eyes locked on Kai's. Kai took a deep breath, and nodded, his anger slowly dissipating. He knew that Agent was right. He had to calm down and focus on taking care of Ray.
