Reunion in the Shadows
Part 19
As we burst into the chamber, Bakugo's eyes locked onto mine, and for a moment, we just stared at each other. I could see the surprise and relief etched on his face, and my heart swelled with emotion. Without hesitation, I rushed towards him, Osby close behind. I quickly got to work, using my quirk to cut through the ropes that bound Bakugo. As the last rope fell away, Bakugo rubbed his wrists, a grimace on his face. "Thanks, Vesper," he said, his voice gruff. I smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Anytime, Bakugo," I replied, helping him to his feet. Bakugo looked at me, his eyes searching mine. "Why did you come back?" he asked, his voice low. I took a deep breath, my heart pounding in my chest. "Because you're important to me," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Bakugo's expression softened, and for a moment, I saw a glimmer of something in his eyes. Something that looked almost like... affection. Osby cleared his throat, breaking the moment. "Now let's go, Vesper and Bakugo!" he shouted, his voice echoing off the walls of the chamber. Bakugo grinned, clapping me on the back. "Time to get out of here," he said, his eyes glinting with mischief. Together, the three of us set off, our footsteps echoing through the deserted corridors. We moved quickly, our senses on high alert as we navigated the twisting passages. As we ran, I could hear the sound of Dabi's flames growing fainter, and Shigaraki's angry shouts. But I didn't look back, my focus fixed on getting Bakugo to safety. Suddenly, Osby stopped in his tracks, his head cocked to one side. "Do you hear that?" he whispered. I strained my ears, and soon, I could hear it too - the sound of footsteps, heavy and deliberate, coming from the corridor ahead. Bakugo's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. "Let's go," he said, his voice low and deadly. We exchanged a look, and then, together, we charged forward, ready to face whatever lay ahead.
