"A Sudden Departure"

Part 10

I think I have to go right now, I have to go to Stark Tower, my boyfriend is waiting for me. The words tumbled out of my mouth as I scrambled to process the revelation that Matt was in a serious relationship with Karen. I couldn't stay here, not now that I knew the truth. Matt's eyes widened in surprise, and he sat up in bed, his expression concerned. "What's going on? Who's waiting for you at Stark Tower?" I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But something about Matt's gentle tone put me at ease. "My boyfriend," I said, the word feeling strange on my lips. "Tony Stark. He's...a bit possessive, and I'm sure he's wondering where I am." Matt's eyebrows shot up, and he let out a low whistle. "Tony Stark, as in, Tony Stark, the Tony Stark?" I nodded, feeling a mix of emotions. "The one and only." Matt chuckled, a low, husky sound. "Well, I think I understand why you need to go. You don't want to keep Tony Stark waiting." I smiled wryly, feeling a pang of guilt. "You have no idea." As I threw off the covers and stood up, Matt tossed me my clothes from the night before. "Here, take these. You look like you could use them." I took the clothes, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Matt. Despite the awkwardness of the situation, he was being surprisingly understanding. As I dressed quickly, Matt walked over to me, his eyes serious. "Celine, I'm sorry again for the misunderstanding. I hope you and Tony Stark...work things out." I smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Thanks, Matt. I appreciate it." With a final glance at Matt, I turned and walked out of the apartment, feeling a sense of freedom wash over me. I hailed a taxi on the street and gave the driver the address of Stark Tower. As we sped through the city, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. I was going to see Tony, and I was going to have to face the music for standing him up. But I was ready. I was ready to face whatever consequences came my way, as long as it meant being with Tony. The taxi pulled up to Stark Tower, and I paid the driver, my heart racing with anticipation. I stepped out of the taxi and looked up at the towering skyscraper, feeling a sense of pride and ownership. This was Tony's world, and I was a part of it. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was to come. I was ready to face Tony, and I was ready to face whatever lay ahead. With a sense of determination, I walked into the building, ready to take on the day.
