Chapter 41: "Morning After"

Part 40

I immediately began blushing so much that I felt like I was on fire, my face burning with a fierce heat as I stared up at Izuku with wide, shocked eyes. I couldn't believe what was happening - he knew I was lying there, aware of his arm wrapped around me, and he was still smiling at me like it was the most normal thing in the world. I tried to speak, but my voice came out in a stuttering mess, "I-Izuku... c-can you... um..." I took a deep breath and tried again, my voice shaking slightly, "Hey, can you like let go of me please? I'm sorry..." Izuku's smile grew even wider as he looked at me, his eyes crinkling at the corners. He didn't seem to be in any hurry to release me, and instead, he just chuckled softly and leaned in closer, his face inches from mine. "Sorry about that, Ochaco," he said, his voice low and husky, sending shivers down my spine. "I didn't mean to... I guess I just got a little carried away." I felt my blush deepen, my face burning with embarrassment as I tried to squirm away from him. "I-Izuku, p-please..." I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper. Izuku's grip on me relaxed slightly, but he still didn't let go completely. Instead, he looked at me with a curious expression, like he was trying to read my thoughts. "Are you okay, Ochaco?" he asked, his voice soft and gentle. "You seem a little... flustered." I nodded hastily, still trying to process what was happening. I was mortified. I had been trying to play it cool, and now... now I was basically melting into a puddle of embarrassment. Izuku chuckled again and slowly released his grip on me, his arm sliding away from my waist. I let out a sigh of relief as I scrambled to sit up, trying to put some distance between us. But as I looked at Izuku, I saw that he was still smiling at me, his eyes sparkling with amusement. And I had a feeling that this wasn't the end of this conversation, not by a long shot.
