**Chapter 5: Anna's Anger**

Part 5

The door to Anna's chambers swung open, and Lars stood in the entrance, his eyes searching for a glimmer of hope. Anna's expression was a mixture of surprise and wariness as she regarded the prince from the Southern Isles. Her hair was tied back in a tight braid, and her arms were crossed over her chest, conveying a sense of defensiveness. "Lars," she said, her voice cool. "What brings you to Arendelle?" Lars took a deep breath, his eyes locked on Anna's. "Hans," he said, his voice low. "My brother Hans. He's...he's not well." Anna's expression changed, a flicker of concern crossing her face before she masked it with anger. "What do you mean? He's got what he deserved after what he did to me." Lars winced, feeling a pang of guilt. He knew that Anna's feelings were justified, but he also knew that Hans's condition was dire. "Please, Anna, listen to me. Hans's mental state has deteriorated rapidly. He's become violent, and we have to restrain him just to keep him from harming himself or others." Anna's eyes narrowed, her expression skeptical. "And why should I care? He used me, manipulated me, and nearly destroyed everything I hold dear. Why should I help him now?" Lars took a step forward, his hands extended in a gesture of pleading. "Because, Anna, he's not the same person he was when he betrayed you. Something has happened to him, something that has broken him. I've seen it, Anna. I've seen the brother I once knew, the one who was charming and kind, reduced to a mere shadow of his former self." Anna's expression softened, just for a moment, and Lars saw a glimmer of the compassion she had once felt for Hans. "What happened to him?" she asked, her voice a little gentler. Lars hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But something about Anna's expression made him trust her. "I don't know," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "But I think it's connected to his past, to the trauma he's experienced. He's become...unstable." Anna's eyes searched Lars's face, and for a moment, they just looked at each other. Then, in a movement that surprised Lars, Anna nodded. "I'll come with you," she said, her voice firm. "I'll help Hans, but not for his sake. I'll do it for yours, Lars. Because I think you genuinely care about him, and I think you might be the only one who can help him." Lars felt a surge of gratitude towards Anna, mixed with a sense of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could save Hans from the darkness that had consumed him. And maybe, just maybe, they could find a way to heal the wounds of the past, to bring some measure of peace to the Southern Isles.
