"Facing the Demons"

Part 18

The team's determined faces seemed to be the final straw for Kageyama, his emotions boiling over as he suddenly sat up, his eyes blazing with a mix of anger and pain. "You don't know anything!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the room. "You don't know what it's like to be me, to have to deal with all this...all this pain and anger!" The team took a step back, taken aback by Kageyama's outburst. Oikawa's expression softened, and he took a deep breath before speaking. "Kageyama, we're trying to help you. We're here for you." Kageyama's gaze fell on Oikawa, his eyes filling with tears as he spoke. "Help me? You think you can help me? You don't know what I've been through. You don't know what it's like to have your own family against you, to have to fight for everything you have." The team exchanged worried glances, sensing that Kageyama was on the verge of breaking down. Daichi took a step forward, his voice calm and reassuring. "Kageyama, we're here to listen. Whatever you're going through, we're here to help." Kageyama's expression twisted in a mixture of sadness and anger. "You don't understand," he spat, his voice cracking. "My grandpa...he was the only one who ever truly cared about me. He was the one person who didn't judge me, who didn't try to change me. And now he's gone." Hinata's eyes widened in surprise, and he took a step closer to Kageyama. "Kageyama, I'm so sorry. I had no idea." Kageyama's gaze fell to the floor, his voice barely above a whisper. "I was so angry with him when he passed away. I didn't get to say goodbye. I didn't get to tell him how much I loved him." The team looked at each other, unsure of how to respond. They had known that Kageyama was struggling, but they had no idea he was carrying this much pain. Oikawa took a deep breath and spoke up, his voice gentle. "Kageyama, we're here for you. We're not going to judge you or try to change you. We just want to help you through this." Kageyama's expression hardened, and he looked away, his eyes welling up with tears. "You don't know what it's like," he repeated, his voice cracking. "My parents...they were so cruel to me. They never accepted me for who I am. They always wanted me to be someone I'm not." The team exchanged shocked glances. They had known that Kageyama's home life was difficult, but they had no idea it was this bad. "And the scars," Kageyama continued, his voice barely above a whisper. "They just keep appearing. I try to hide them, but they just keep coming back. It's like my body is a reminder of all the pain I've been through." As Kageyama spoke, the team noticed that his hands were clenched into fists, his nails digging into his palms. They could see the pain and anguish etched on his face, and they knew they had to be patient, to let him talk through his emotions. The room fell silent, the only sound the quiet breathing of the team. They were waiting for Kageyama to open up, to share his pain with them. And as they stood there, they knew that they would do everything in their power to help him heal. Kageyama's eyes flickered up to meet Oikawa's, and for a moment, the two of them just stared at each other. Then, in a voice that was barely audible, Kageyama spoke up. "I'm tired of being alone. I'm tired of being in pain. I just want to be free." The team nodded in unison, their faces set with determination. They were going to be there for Kageyama, no matter what it took.
