**Chapter 2: Marked Territory**

Part 2

The sound of cheering and whistling slowly faded away as Brooklyn's cheeks burned with a deep shade of crimson. She had never been one for grand gestures, and being kissed passionately in front of a group of people was definitely out of her comfort zone. But as she gazed into Joe's eyes, she saw a spark of sincerity that left her breathless. As the group around them began to murmur and disperse, Joe's arm remained wrapped around her waist, holding her close. Brooklyn couldn't help but feel a sense of possessiveness emanating from him, and it was both thrilling and intimidating. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable," Joe whispered, his breath tickling her ear. "I just couldn't help myself. I've never felt this way about anyone before." Brooklyn's heart skipped a beat as she turned to face him. "You don't have to apologize," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I just...I didn't expect that." Joe's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. "I know. I can be a bit much sometimes. But I promise you, Brooklyn, I'm not going to let you go. Not now, not ever." As the night wore on, Brooklyn found herself getting lost in Joe's eyes. She had never felt this way about anyone before either, and it was both exhilarating and terrifying. She couldn't believe how much she enjoyed his company, and how natural it felt to be around him. As the guests began to leave and the party came to a close, Joe walked Brooklyn to her car, his arm still wrapped around her waist. "I'll walk you home if you want," he said, his eyes sparkling with hope. Brooklyn hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But as she looked into his eyes, she knew she couldn't resist. "Okay," she said softly, smiling up at him. The drive to her apartment was quiet, with only the sound of music filling the air. Brooklyn couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness as she wondered what the future held for them. As they pulled up to her apartment complex, Joe turned off the engine and turned to face her. "I had a great time tonight," he said, his eyes locked on hers. "Would you like to do it again sometime soon?" Brooklyn's heart skipped a beat as she smiled up at him. "I'd like that," she said softly. Joe's face lit up with a smile as he leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips. "Good," he whispered. "I'll pick you up tomorrow night at 7." As Brooklyn watched him drive away, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. She had no idea what she was getting herself into, but she was eager to find out.
