**Chapter 4: Unraveling the Past**

Part 4

As Judd settled into the driver's seat of his car, he carefully lifted Jay out of the crate and removed the gag from his mouth. Jay's eyes widened as he took a deep breath, his chest heaving with relief. Judd bound Jay's wrists with a zip tie, ensuring he couldn't escape or cause any trouble. He then placed Jay in the passenger seat, his eyes locking onto the young boy's. "Listen, Jay," Judd said, his voice low and serious. "I know you think I'm doing this out of the goodness of my heart, but I'm not. I'm doing this because I know your family will be worried sick about you. But I need you to understand something - if you tell the cops or anyone else about our little transaction, I'll kill you. Do you understand?" Jay nodded, his eyes wide with fear. Judd could see the terror in them, and he knew he had to keep the upper hand. With a flick of his wrist, Judd tossed the crate out of the car window, watching as it bounced and rolled down the deserted alleyway. He started the engine and pulled out of the alley, heading towards his family home. As they drove, Jay remained silent, staring off into space. Judd glanced at him occasionally, noticing the bound wrists and the haunted look in his eyes. Judd's mind was a mix of emotions - guilt, responsibility, and a hint of nostalgia. He hadn't seen Jay in years, but the familiarity was still there. When they arrived at the house, Judd warned Jay to be quiet, his voice firm but controlled. "We're going inside, and I don't want you to make a sound. If anyone sees us, just play along. You got that?" Jay nodded again, his eyes darting around the surroundings. Judd carefully opened the passenger door and helped Jay out, keeping a firm grip on his arm. They sneaked into the house, avoiding the main living areas. Judd's younger brother, Nick, and sister, Emily, were likely in their rooms, oblivious to the drama unfolding. Once they reached Judd's room, he pushed Jay inside and locked the door behind them. The room was dimly lit, with only a sliver of sunlight peeking through the curtains. Judd approached Jay, his movements slow and deliberate. He unbound Jay's wrists, and the young boy rubbed his sore wrists, wincing in relief. Jay's eyes had widened as he took in his surroundings, and Judd could see the recognition dawning on him. Jay's gaze flicked to Judd's face, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Judd could see the fear in Jay's eyes, mixed with a hint of uncertainty. Jay had obviously recognized him as Nick's brother, but they weren't close, and Jay clearly didn't know what to make of Judd's actions. The air was thick with tension as Judd waited for Jay to speak, to react. But for now, the young boy just stood there, his eyes locked onto Judd's, searching for answers that Judd wasn't sure he was ready to give.
