**Chapter 1: The Morning Run**

Part 1

The sun was shining bright as Alex laced up his running shoes and slung his water bottle over his shoulder. He loved mornings like this, with a crisp breeze and a clear blue sky. It was the perfect time to get in a run through the park. Alex had been doing this route for months, and he knew every twist and turn, every hill and every curve. He enjoyed the sense of routine and familiarity, but also the chance to clear his mind and get some exercise. As he set off, Alex felt invigorated by the cool air and the sound of birds chirping. He picked up his pace, his feet pounding the pavement in a rhythmic beat. The park was quiet, with only a few early risers out and about. Alex passed by a couple of joggers and exchanged a nod of acknowledgement, but otherwise he was alone. The scenery was beautiful, with lush green trees and vibrant flowers lining the path. Alex breathed in deeply, taking in the scent of blooming lilacs and fresh-cut grass. He felt carefree and alive, his worries and stress melting away with each step. As he ran, Alex's mind began to wander. He thought about his job, his friends, and his plans for the weekend. He was a software engineer, and his work was demanding, but he loved the challenge and the sense of accomplishment. He was also looking forward to a night out with friends on Friday, and a possible weekend getaway to the beach. The sun was climbing higher in the sky, casting dappled shadows across the path. Alex was in his zone, lost in the rhythm of his run and the beauty of the park. He didn't notice the dense thicket of bushes up ahead, or the two women watching him from within. For now, Alex was content to simply enjoy the run, the scenery, and the sense of freedom. Little did he know, his morning was about to take an unexpected turn.
