"Cornered and Claimed"
Part 20
I darted between the trees, my breath coming in ragged gasps as I desperately sought to evade the wolf girls. But they were relentless, their pursuit unwavering as they chased me deeper into the forest. I could hear their panting, their footsteps closing in, and I knew I couldn't outrun them forever. Finally, I found myself trapped, the trees forming a natural cage around me. Luna and Lyra emerged from the shadows, their eyes gleaming with excitement as they closed in. I stood my ground, my heart pounding in my chest, as they approached me. The twins exchanged a look, their faces mirroring each other's desire. They reached out, their hands grasping for me, and I knew I was done for. But just as they were about to claim me, they twitched, their ears perking up. A high-pitched whistle pierced the air, and they exchanged a look of reluctance. With a whine, they backed away from me, their eyes still burning with desire. Luna grasped my wrist, pulling me along as they led me back through the forest. We emerged into the brightly lit corridors of the castle, and I stumbled, my legs aching from the exertion. The wolf girls dragged me to Mari's chamber, and as we entered, they hurried to Vorgath's side, whining and begging to breed with me. Vorgath's eyes burned with rage, not just that I was still alive, but that his own dogs had fallen for me. He shut down the idea, his face twisted in a snarl. The twins looked at me with longing, their eyes pleading, before falling at Vorgath's heels as he stormed out of the room. Mari beckoned me to her side, where she sat on her bed, her eyes gleaming with amusement. She pulled my head to her bosom, petting my hair as I stood there, still panting from my exertion. "Well done, hero," she whispered, her voice husky. "You've managed to get under Vorgath's skin. That's no easy feat." I looked up at her, curiosity getting the better of me. "Mari, what's your relationship with Vorgath?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Mari's expression turned enigmatic, her eyes clouding over. "Ah, Vorgath," she sighed, her voice dripping with a mixture of affection and wariness. "He's a complicated man, driven by his desires and his ambitions. I...I have a certain role to play in his life, one that I'm not entirely sure I'm comfortable with." I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the hint of vulnerability in her voice. But before I could press her for more information, she simply smiled and continued to pet my hair, her touch soothing and gentle.
