The Great Enlargement
Part 2
Alice was sweeping the castle courtyard when she heard the shrill voice of the Queen of Hearts, accompanied by the stern face of the Duchess of Spades. "Alice, you scullery maid, you've been accused of a most egregious prank!" the Duchess exclaimed, her eyes narrowing into slits. "The Cheshire Cat has reportedly placed a rather...unseemly portrait of the Queen on the castle gates. And witnesses claim to have seen you lurking around the area." Alice's eyes widened in protest, but before she could utter a word, a mischievous grin appeared on the stone wall beside her. The Cheshire Cat, perched on a nearby windowsill, beckoned her with a paw. "Ah, don't mind them, Alice," the Cat said, its voice like a gentle breeze. "I'm afraid I've played a little trick on you. But don't worry, it's all in good fun." The Cat held out a plate with a single cookie marked "Eat Me" in elegant script. Alice's curiosity got the better of her, and she took a bite of the cookie. At first, nothing seemed to happen. But then, she began to feel a strange, tingling sensation spreading through her body. As the sensation grew, Alice felt herself expanding, her body growing bigger and bigger. She tried to speak, but her voice was drowned out by the sound of her own astonished gasps. The castle's stone walls seemed to shrink as she grew, and she found herself filling the entire courtyard. The Queen and her subjects scurried about, trying to get out of her way. "Monsters!" the Queen shrieked, her playing card soldiers scattering in terror. "We're being overrun by monsters!" But Alice was no monster - she was just a girl, stuck in a predicament of her own making. As she continued to grow, Alice's arms poked out of the windows, and her legs protruded from the doorways, her body forming a gigantic, seated figure. The castle seemed to be stuck to her, as if it had been glued to her skin. The Queen and her subjects fled in fear, abandoning the castle to its gigantic, unwitting inhabitant. Alice struggled to free herself, pulling on the stone walls and pushing against the ground. But no matter how hard she tried, the castle refused to budge. She was stuck, practically wearing the castle like a shell. Panic set in as she realized the enormity of her situation. Tears of frustration streaming down her face, Alice tugged and pulled, but the castle remained anchored to the spot. She was trapped, a prisoner of her own enormous size, with no way to escape. The Cheshire Cat's mischievous grin still lingered on the wall, but it seemed to be laughing at her predicament rather than offering any assistance. As the sun dipped below the horizon, Alice sat in darkness, her massive body filling the castle, her mind racing with thoughts of how to escape. But for now, she was stuck, a gigantic, castle-clad figure, at the mercy of her own uncooperative body.
