"A Nighttime Encounter"
Part 15
A figure emerged from the darkness, and Jesus's heart sank as he realized it was Hayley, his ex-girlfriend. The same Hayley who had made his life a living hell, the same Hayley who was disliked by everyone in their social circle. Hayley's eyes locked onto Jesus, a sly smile spreading across her face. "Well, well, well, look what we have here," she said, her voice dripping with malice. Maya instinctively tightened her grip on Jesus's hand, sensing the tension in the air. "Hayley, what are you doing here?" Jesus asked, trying to keep his cool. Hayley took a step closer, her eyes gleaming with a mischievous spark. "I could ask you the same thing, Jesus. I didn't know they allowed ex-cons like you to go on camping trips." Jesus felt a surge of anger at her jab, but he bit back his retort. "Hayley, just leave us alone, okay?" he said, trying to sound calm. But Hayley wasn't having it. She took another step closer, her eyes fixed on Maya. "And who might this be?" she asked, her voice laced with venom. "Your new little plaything?" Maya stood her ground, her eyes flashing with defiance. "I'm Maya, and I'm Jesus's girlfriend," she said, her voice firm. Hayley raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really? Well, isn't that cute. You think you're so much better than me, don't you, Jesus?" Jesus felt a wave of frustration wash over him. He knew that Hayley was trying to provoke him, but he wasn't going to give her the satisfaction. "Hayley, just leave us alone," he repeated, his voice firm. But Hayley just laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "Oh, I don't think so, Jesus. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of our little reunion." As she spoke, Hayley took a step closer, her eyes glinting with a sinister light. Jesus felt a shiver run down his spine as he realized that Hayley was not going to leave them alone without a fight.
