Chapter 30: A Sweet Celebration

Two days after the joyous brunch with her family, Usagi could hardly contain her excitement as she prepared to share her news with her best friends. It felt surreal to think about becoming a mother, and she could hardly wait to see their reactions. With Rei by her side, they set plans to meet up with Makoto, Ami, Minako, Mario, Luigi, Ash, and Serena at their favorite ice cream parlor later that afternoon. As they walked through the sun-drenched streets, Usagi felt the energy of the day buzzing around her. Children laughed and played in the parks, the scent of blooming flowers filled the air, and everything seemed to glow with possibility. "What flavor are you getting?" Rei asked, taking hold of Usagi's hand as they navigated through the bustling crowd. Usagi thought about it for a moment, her heart racing with anticipation. "I think I'm going to get strawberry. It reminds me of the summers we spent together, just the two of us, before everything got so... complicated," Usagi replied, her voice full of nostalgia. Rei smiled, a soft look crossing her face. "Those were good times. But these will be even better. Just think of all the memories we'll create with our baby, and our friends!" As they approached the ice cream parlor, two familiar figures dashed excitedly up to them. It was Mario and Luigi, their faces beaming with energy. "Hey, Usagi! Rei! We heard you’re treating us all today!" Mario exclaimed, a giant grin on his face. "Actually, we have some news to share first!" Usagi said, her heart pounding with excitement. The two brothers exchanged glances, filled with curiosity, as Minako appeared right behind them. "Then let’s hurry inside; I’ve been craving double chocolate fudge all day!" They all settled at a large table, and soon after, Ash and Serena joined the group, excitedly talking about recent Pokémon battles. When the ice cream cones were handed out, with varying levels of sprinkles and toppings, Usagi took a deep breath. "Everyone! There’s something really important we want to tell you!" All eyes turned toward her, eager and curious. "Rei and I are going to have a baby!" Usagi announced, unable to suppress her bubbling joy any longer. Silence enveloped the table for a split second before it erupted into a chorus of cheers and laughter. "What?! No way!" Minako yelled, her voice high with excitement. "You’re going to be the cutest mom ever!" "This is amazing, Usagi! You’ll make an incredible parent!" Ami added, beaming at her friend, her analytical mind already racing ahead to all the future interactions they'd share. Mario slapped his thigh in excitement. "Wow, I can't believe it! Can we help plan a baby shower? Or maybe I can cook a feast for the little one!" "Yo! This calls for a celebration! Ice cream for everyone!" Luigi announced, raising his cone in triumph. Chatter erupted—questions flew across the table about names, nursery themes, and baby gear. Usagi felt a warmth spread throughout her, surrounded by love and support as she and Rei shared in their friends’ enthusiasm. "Let’s make a pact right now—every ice cream date from here on out will include Baby Tsukino!" Ash exclaimed, a playful spark in his eyes. "Definitely!" Usagi agreed, laughing. She could almost envision the little one, giggling at all their adventures. As they clinked their ice cream cones together in a toast to their future, Usagi realized how blessed she was to have such wonderful friends, all ready to embark on this new journey with her.
