Chapter 204: Web of Confessions

Part 203

Mina's eyes sparkled with amusement as she gazed at Hawks, her expression mischievous. "You're jealous, aren't you?" she asked, her voice low and teasing. Hawks' eyes flicked away for a moment, and I could sense a hint of discomfort emanating from him. Then, a small smile played on his lips as he turned back to Mina. "Maybe," he said, his voice nonchalant, but his eyes betraying a glimmer of curiosity. "Who else confessed to her?" Mina's grin grew wider, and she seemed to relish in Hawks' interest. "Oh, let's see... Bakugo, Deku, Todoroki, Kirishima, Kaminari, Shinso, and Shindo!" she listed off, her voice rising in excitement. Hawks' eyes widened, and he let out a low whistle. "Wow, that's a lot," he said, his tone laced with surprise. Mina's eyes sparkled with mischief as she turned to Hawks. "Want to join in?" she asked, her voice playful. I could see the wheels turning in Hawks' mind, his gaze drifting towards Shindo, who still had me cradled in his arms. It was clear that he was weighing his options, and I had a feeling that he was on the verge of making a decision. Shindo, sensing Hawks' gaze, tightened his hold on me, his eyes never leaving mine. I felt a flutter in my chest as I met his gaze, my heart racing with anticipation. Hawks, however, seemed undeterred. He took a step closer to us, his eyes locked on mine. For a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of something in his eyes, something that looked almost like... interest. Mina's voice cut through the tension, her tone teasing. "Come on, Hawks, don't be shy. Vesper's got a long list of confessors, and you're not going to let them all get ahead of you, are you?" The air was thick with anticipation as Hawks' eyes never left mine, his gaze burning with an unspoken question. Would he take the leap and join the ranks of my confessors, or would he retreat, leaving me to wonder what could have been?
