An Unexpected Revelation

Part 2

As Sarah continued to gush about Alex, I couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity about this new boyfriend of hers. She had mentioned that they had met at a coffee shop downtown, and that they had hit it off immediately. I had assumed that he was probably some nice guy, maybe a teacher or a businessman, someone who would be a good match for my sweet and caring friend. But as we chatted, Sarah mentioned that Alex was a bit of a private person, and that he didn't like to talk about his job or his past too much. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now that I think back, it seems like it should have been a red flag. It wasn't until later that evening, when Sarah invited Alex over for dinner, that I got my first glimpse of him. As I opened the door, I was surprised to see a tall, muscular guy with piercing yellow eyes standing on my porch. He was dressed in a simple white shirt and jeans, but there was something about him that commanded attention. Sarah introduced us, and Alex smiled warmly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. But as we sat down to dinner, I noticed that he seemed to be avoiding eye contact, and that his gaze kept flicking to the windows, as if he was waiting for something. It wasn't until dessert that the conversation turned to his job. Sarah mentioned that he worked as a... consultant, and that he traveled a lot. But as we pressed him for more information, he became evasive, and eventually excused himself to go to the bathroom. As soon as he was out of earshot, I turned to Sarah and raised an eyebrow. "What's going on with him?" I whispered. "He seems a bit... secretive." Sarah leaned in, a conspiratorial look on her face. "I know what you're thinking," she said. "But trust me, Alex is a great guy. He's just... complicated." Complicated? That was one way to put it. As we waited for Alex to return, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to him, something that he wasn't telling us. And then, just as we were finishing up dessert, Alex returned, his eyes gleaming in the dim light. As he sat down, I noticed that his nails had grown into sharp claws, and that his eyes seemed to be shifting, like the moon was rising inside them. I gasped, shocked, and Sarah reached out to put a hand on my arm. "It's okay," she said. "He's... different. He's a werewolf." I stared, my mind reeling. A werewolf? Here, in our small town? It was unthinkable. And yet, as I looked at Alex, I saw the truth in Sarah's eyes. He was a werewolf, and he was sitting in my living room, eating my dessert. As the reality sunk in, I felt a chill run down my spine. I had heard stories about werewolves, about how they were known for being tough on their partners, for being fiercely possessive and sometimes violent. It seemed an unusual choice for a kindergarten teacher like Sarah, and I couldn't help but wonder what she had gotten herself into. "Sarah, are you sure you're okay?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. Sarah nodded, her eyes shining with happiness. "I'm more than okay," she said. "I'm happy. And I know that Alex will take care of me." But as I looked at Alex, I couldn't shake the feeling that Sarah was playing with fire, and that she was in grave danger.
