Falling Deeper into Darkness

Part 8

The days that followed were a blur for Taehyun. Soobin's words of encouragement and concern still lingered in his mind, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of being trapped in his own world. He knew that Soobin was trying to help, but every time he looked at him, he felt a pang of guilt and shame. He didn't want Soobin's help, and he certainly didn't want to burden him with his problems. As the days turned into weeks, Taehyun's addiction only worsened. He stopped leaving his room, stopped taking care of himself, and stopped caring about anything. He felt like he was drowning in a sea of pills, and he didn't know how to keep his head above water. Soobin tried to reach out to him, to get him to see a doctor or a therapist, but Taehyun refused. He didn't want to be fixed, didn't want to be cured. He liked the escape that the pills provided, liked the numbness that they brought. One day, Soobin came to his room, a look of determination on his face. "Tae, I've made an appointment with a doctor for you," he said, his voice firm but gentle. "You need help, and I'm not going to let you continue down this path alone." Taehyun looked up at him, a mixture of anger and resentment in his eyes. "I don't need your help, Soobin," he said, his voice cold. "I don't need anyone's help. I can handle this on my own." Soobin's face fell, and for a moment, Taehyun thought he saw a glimmer of sadness. But then, Soobin's expression hardened, and he took a step closer to Taehyun. "Tae, you're not fooling anyone," Soobin said, his voice low and urgent. "You're not fooling me, and you're not fooling yourself. You need help, and you're going to get it, whether you like it or not." Taehyun's anger flared up, and he stood up, his eyes blazing. "You have no right to tell me what to do," he said, his voice rising. "You have no right to try to fix me. I'm not broken, Soobin. I'm just fine." Soobin's face was inches from Taehyun's, and for a moment, Taehyun thought he saw a flash of anger. But then, Soobin's expression softened, and he took a step back. "I'm trying to help you, Tae," Soobin said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm trying to save you from yourself." Taehyun laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "You can't save me, Soobin," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "No one can save me. I'm beyond saving." As Soobin turned to leave, Taehyun felt a pang of loneliness. He knew that he was pushing Soobin away, but he didn't care. He was too far gone, too deep in his addiction. He didn't want to be saved, didn't want to be helped. He just wanted to fall deeper into darkness, to lose himself in the sea of pills.
