"A Life of Deception"
Part 4
The truth was harder to swallow than I had anticipated. Kyaa's eyes, once filled with a deep sadness, now seemed to hold a hint of shame as she began to correct her story. "I'm so sorry, I was wrong to leave things out," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "The truth is...I couldn't afford to pay your medical bills after the accident." I felt a pang of realization, remembering the countless hospital visits and surgeries I had undergone. "So, what did you do?" I asked, my voice cautious. Kyaa took a deep breath before continuing. "I made a deal with a wealthy businessman, Richard Langley, the third richest man in the world. He offered to pay off your medical bills and provide for us, but in return, I had to marry him." My eyes widened in shock as the pieces began to fall into place. "You married him?" I repeated, trying to process the information. Kyaa nodded, her eyes filled with regret. "I know it was a mistake, but I felt like I had no other choice. I was desperate to save you, and I thought this was the only way." I shook my head, trying to clear the cobwebs. "And then...you had kids?" I asked, my voice hesitant. Kyaa nodded again, her eyes welling up with tears. "Yes, I had Akira, and then we had four more. She's the oldest of five, and...I don't know, I just got caught up in this life. Richard is a wealthy and influential man, and I became his wife, hosting charity events and attending parties. But it's not a life I wanted." I felt a mix of emotions: anger, sadness, and confusion. How could Kyaa have kept this from me? And what kind of life had she been living all these years? I looked at Kyaa, my eyes searching for answers. "Why did you keep this from me?" I asked, my voice firm but gentle. Kyaa's eyes dropped, and she seemed to struggle to find the right words. "I was ashamed," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't want you to think less of me. But...I realize now that I was wrong to keep it from you. You deserve to know the truth." I took a deep breath, trying to process everything. Akira was the daughter of a wealthy businessman, and I was just a poor relative who had been kept in the dark. It was a lot to take in, but I knew I had to hear more. "Tell me everything," I said, my voice firm. "I want to know what really happened."
