The Unexpected Arrival

Part 1

The evening had started out so peacefully. Dorothy and her husband Lucas had arrived at Blanche's house, looking forward to a quiet night in. They had spent the evening chatting and laughing, enjoying each other's company. But as the hours ticked by, Dorothy began to feel a strange sensation in her abdomen. At first, she thought it was just a side effect of the wine they had been drinking, but as the sensation grew stronger, she realized that something was happening. "Dorothy, are you okay?" Lucas asked, noticing that she was clutching her stomach. "I...I think I'm going into labor," she replied, her voice shaking slightly. Lucas's eyes widened in surprise. "Now? But we're not due for another few weeks!" Blanche, who had been sitting on the couch, jumped up. "Don't worry, I've had experience with these things. Let's get you comfortable." She quickly ushered them into the living room, where she began to prepare for the unexpected arrival. Lucas helped Dorothy onto the floor, where she could lean against him for support. "Okay, Dorothy, I want you to breathe deeply and try to relax," Blanche said, guiding her through the process. "Lucas, can you help her with her breathing?" Lucas nodded, taking Dorothy's hand in his. "I'm here, I'm here. Just breathe, baby." As the contractions grew stronger, Dorothy's breathing became more labored. Blanche helped her find a comfortable position, and Lucas supported her back. "We're going to do this, Dorothy," Blanche said, reassuringly. "You're going to be a mom." The room was filled with the sound of Dorothy's heavy breathing and the occasional cry of pain. Lucas was trying his best to stay calm, but he could feel his heart racing with anxiety. He glanced at Blanche, who seemed to be in control, and felt a surge of gratitude towards her. As the minutes ticked by, Dorothy's contractions grew closer together. Blanche was coaching her through each one, and Lucas was doing his best to support her. They were all focused on the task at hand, unaware of the chaos that was about to ensue. With one final push, Dorothy felt a sudden release. She leaned her body against Lucas, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. But as she did, her legs gave out from under her, and she felt herself losing consciousness. "Lucas, I...I think it's happening," she whispered, her voice barely audible. Lucas wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "It's okay, baby. You're safe. The baby is here." But as he looked into her face, he saw that she was fading away. Her eyes were glazing over, and her body was going limp. Lucas's heart skipped a beat as he realized that Dorothy was losing consciousness. He called out to Blanche, his voice panicked. "Blanche, help! She's passing out!"
