A Text Message Misstep

Part 31

I stood there, frozen, as Ochaco and Osby waited for me to respond. My mind was a blank, but I knew I had to text Shinso back. I took a deep breath and tried to compose myself. I quickly typed out a message, trying to play it cool. "Is Saturday good?" I sent, hoping that he would respond with a time or a suggestion. As I waited for his response, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. Ochaco and Osby were still watching me, their curiosity evident on their faces. I tried to brush it off, telling them I just had to respond to a friend, but they exchanged a knowing glance. Just as I was starting to feel like I was going to die from anticipation, my phone buzzed again. I glanced at the screen, and my heart skipped another beat. "Yea that's good," Shinso had replied. Emboldened by his response, I quickly typed out another message. "Great it's a date!" I sent, feeling a rush of excitement. But as soon as I pressed send, my heart sank. What had I just done? I couldn't believe I had been so reckless. I had meant to say something casual, like "Great, I'll see you then," but instead I had gone and made it sound like I was asking him out on a real date. Mortified, I quickly typed out another message, trying to play it off. "Oh my bad wrong choice of words hehe," I sent, hoping that Shinso would understand that I had just made a mistake. Now all I could do was wait for his response, my heart racing with anticipation. Ochaco and Osby were still watching me, their eyes sparkling with curiosity. "So, what's going on?" Ochaco asked, her voice low and conspiratorial. I just shook my head, feeling embarrassed. "Nothing," I said, trying to brush it off. But Osby just raised an eyebrow. "You're not telling us something," she teased. I sighed, feeling like I was going to be the subject of their teasing for a while. I just hoped that Shinso would respond soon, and that he wouldn't think I was completely crazy for making such a mistake.
