**Chapter 1: The Unexpected Discovery**
Part 1
The sun was setting over the Snowy Peaks Ski Resort, casting a warm orange glow over the bustling lobby. The Smith family, who had just purchased the resort, were busy unpacking and settling into their new home. John, the 45-year-old patriarch, was overseeing the chaos, while his wife, Emily, a 42-year-old former event planner, was trying to get the kids settled into their new rooms. Their children, Olivia (19), a college student, and twin brothers, Jackson (12) and Jasper (12), were arguing over who got to control the TV remote. As they worked, they couldn't help but be distracted by the constant sounds coming from the reception area. Phones ringing, guests chattering, and the occasional loud laughter echoed through the halls. The family had designated the back entrance as their primary unloading zone, but it seemed like the noise from the front desk was seeping into their daily routine. "I'm telling you, it's getting ridiculous," Emily said, exasperated, as she tried to corral the kids. "We can't take it anymore. Jackson's getting scared, and Jasper's getting anxious. We need to figure out what's going on." The twins nodded in agreement, and John sighed. "Fine, let's go check it out." As they made their way to the reception area, the sounds grew louder. They pushed through the doors and were immediately struck by the chaos. Phones rang, guests waited in line, and behind the desk, a harried-looking receptionist tried to keep up. But that wasn't what caught their attention. In the corner, tied up with an assortment of ropes and chains, stood a yeti. The creature was enormous, with shaggy fur the color of snow and eyes that seemed to hold a deep sadness. He was easily eight feet tall, with massive pectorals and arms that looked like they could crush a car. A thick layer of frost covered his fur, and his breath misted in the chilly air. The family gasped in unison as they took in the sight. The yeti's wrists and ankles were bound with: 1. A thick, heavy chain that looked like it belonged on a medieval castle wall, wrapped around his wrists twice and padlocked into place. 2. A sturdy climbing rope, knotted and tied to a large metal hook in the wall, which bound his ankles together. 3. A length of rusty pipe, wrapped around his torso and secured with a U-lock. 4. A bundle of thick, sturdy cables, coiled around his neck like a makeshift collar, with a large metal clip attached. 5. A strip of reinforced webbing, wrapped around his massive thighs, tied in a series of complicated knots. The Smiths stared, aghast, at the sight of the yeti. John was the first to speak, his voice low and furious. "This is...this is unbelievable. Who ties up a yeti like this? And why wasn't I told about it when we bought this resort?" Emily's eyes widened as she took in the yeti's condition. "Oh, poor creature. He must be freezing." Olivia stepped forward, her eyes shining with concern. "Dad, we have to do something. We can't just leave him here like this." John's face was set in a determined expression. "You're right. I'm going to find out who did this and make sure they regret it. This is not what I signed up for when I bought this resort." As the family began to discuss what to do next, the yeti's eyes met John's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. The yeti's eyes seemed to hold a deep intelligence, and a hint of gratitude. John's expression softened, and he took a step forward, his hand extended. "Don't worry, big guy," he said. "We're going to get you out of here."
