The Descent into Madness
Part 9
The hospital room's sterile silence was shattered by the sound of footsteps and murmured voices outside the door. The detective's head swiveled towards the entrance, his eyes narrowing as he anticipated the arrival of more law enforcement personnel. A police officer entered the room, flanked by two detectives in plainclothes. They moved with an air of caution, their faces somber. "Ladies and gentlemen, we've received some additional evidence," one of the detectives announced, his voice low and serious. The police officer held a VHS player in his hands, while another officer carried a stack of VHS tapes. The detective in charge, James, raised an eyebrow. "What is this?" he asked, his tone skeptical. The officer set the VHS player on the hospital room's counter. "We received an anonymous tip about a VHS tape. The sender claimed it was relevant to Lady Victoria's case." James's expression turned grim. "Let's see what it is." The officer inserted the tape into the player and pressed play. The TV, which had been muted and displaying a static screen saver, flickered to life. A grainy image appeared on the screen, showing a hospital room eerily similar to Victoria's. The detective and James exchanged a wary glance. Victoria's eyes, however, were fixed on the screen, her face pale. The video showed a mysterious doctor, dressed in a white coat, entering the room. Victoria, on the screen, lay in the hospital bed, wearing the same low-cut top she had on now. Two nurses stood beside her, holding her down. The doctor approached Victoria, a scalpel glinting in his hand. The blade was extremely sharp, and its edge seemed to gleam in the dim light of the hospital room. As Victoria watched in horror, the doctor raised the scalpel and began to slice her neck. The nurses held her down, their faces expressionless. Victoria, on the screen, struggled and screamed, but her cries were muffled. The detective and James stood frozen, their eyes glued to the screen. The police officers in the room seemed equally shocked, their faces pale. The video continued to play, showing the gruesome act of beheading. Victoria's on-screen body jerked and convulsed as the doctor severed her head. The image was so vivid, so realistic, that Victoria felt as if she was reliving the nightmare. The video ended abruptly, and the TV screen went black. The room fell silent, the only sound the soft hum of the hospital equipment. "Lady Victoria, James, you might want to see this," one of the detectives said, his voice low and somber. He handed James a photograph of the mysterious doctor. James's eyes scanned the image, his expression grim. "We need to find out who this doctor is," he said, his voice firm. "And we need to do it now."
