**Setting Sail for New Horizons**
Part 30
As the sun rose over the horizon, the party set sail for the mainland port, the wind in their hair and the spray of the sea on their faces. Eira and Finnley spent their days exploring the ship and getting to know each other, their laughter and banter carrying across the water. Eira was fascinated by the intricacies of the ship's mechanics, and Finnley was more than happy to show her the ropes. The two of them quickly became fast friends, bonding over their shared love of adventure and the sea. As they spent more time together, Eira and Finnley discovered that they had a lot in common. They both loved the thrill of exploration, the rush of adrenaline that came with discovering new lands and meeting new people. They spent hours talking about their past adventures, sharing stories and laughter. Meanwhile, Valoric took Scorch aside, finding a quiet spot on the ship where they could talk without being overheard. Scorch looked at him curiously, sensing that something was on his mind. "Scorch, can I talk to you about something?" Valoric asked, his voice low and serious. Scorch nodded, her eyes locked on his. "Of course, what's up?" Valoric hesitated for a moment before speaking. "I know you have the ability to take on your full dragon form. And I know it's a powerful asset to have in our travels." Scorch nodded, her expression guarded. "But I want to talk to you about using it on the mainland," Valoric continued. "There's a lot of stigma and fear surrounding dragons, Scorch. A lot of people view them as monsters, as creatures to be feared and reviled." Scorch's expression darkened, and Valoric could see the hurt and anger in her eyes. "I know it's not fair," Valoric said, taking her hand in his. "But it's the way it is. And I want to ask you to be careful, to consider not taking on your full dragon form while we're on the mainland." Scorch looked at him, her eyes searching. "Why? I can control it, Valoric. I can be careful." Valoric squeezed her hand. "I know you can, Scorch. And I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about how other people will react. I don't want you to be ostracized or worse, just because of what you are." Scorch nodded slowly, understanding in her eyes. "I see what you mean. But what about my humanoid form? Is that okay?" Valoric smiled. "Your humanoid form is perfect, Scorch. You're beautiful and strong, and people will respond to that. I think it's your humanoid form that makes you who you are, not your dragon form." Scorch looked at him, her eyes shining with gratitude. "Thank you, Valoric. That means a lot to me." Valoric pulled her close, his arms wrapping around her. "I've got your back, Scorch. No matter what. I don't care what form you take, you're still the same person I love and care about." Scorch smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She knew that she could trust Valoric, that he would always have her back. As they stood there, the mainland port came into view, a bustling hub of activity and commerce. The party was about to embark on a new adventure, one that would take them to new lands and new challenges. But for now, they were together, and that was all that mattered.
