Chapter 19: Under the Starry Sky

Part 19

As they sat on their blankets, the stars twinkling above them like diamonds scattered across the velvet expanse, Lyra felt a sense of peace wash over her. The night air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the distant hum of the city, a gentle reminder that they were still in the heart of London. Teddy, sitting beside her, nudged her gently with his elbow, and Lyra turned to him with a smile. "Hey, Lyra, what do you think is the most magical thing about summer?" Teddy asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. Lyra thought for a moment, her gaze drifting up to the stars. "I think it's the way the world feels alive," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Like anything can happen, and the possibilities are endless." Mari, lying on her side, propped herself up on her elbow. "I think it's the way the light changes," she said, her eyes shining with enthusiasm. "The way the sun sets later and later, and the stars come out earlier and earlier. It's like the world is playing a game of hide-and-seek with the sun." Lian chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I think it's the way we all come together," he said, his voice warm and gentle. "The way we share our experiences, and our laughter, and our adventures. It's like the summer is a big, long hug from the universe." As they talked, Lyra felt a sense of wonder wash over her. She glanced over at Teddy, and their eyes met, the connection between them sparking like a live wire. She felt a flutter in her chest, and her heart began to beat faster. Suddenly, Teddy stood up, his eyes shining with mischief. "I have an idea," he said, his voice low and husky. "Let's make a wish on a star." The others nodded, and Teddy pulled out a small piece of paper and a pen. "Write down your wish," he said, handing out the paper and pen. Lyra took the paper, her heart racing with excitement. She thought for a moment, her mind racing with possibilities. What did she want to wish for? And then, in bold, flowing letters, she wrote down her heart's desire. As they finished writing, Teddy gathered up the papers and stood up, his eyes shining with excitement. "Let's go find a star," he said, his voice full of wonder. The group stood up, their faces tilted up to the sky, and began to walk through the park, searching for the perfect star. Lyra felt a sense of magic in the air, a sense of possibility that anything could happen. As they walked, Teddy fell back beside her, his arm brushing against hers. "What's your wish, Lyra?" he asked, his voice low and husky. Lyra smiled, her heart beating faster. "I'm not telling," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Teddy chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "I think I can guess," he said, his voice low and smooth. Lyra's heart skipped a beat as Teddy's eyes met hers, the connection between them sparking like a live wire. She felt a sense of wonder, a sense of magic, and she knew that this summer was going to be one to remember.
