Chapter 61: Alliances and Laughter
Part 60
Chapter 61: Alliances and Laughter Dabi stumbled backward, his face still twisted in rage, as Ochaco and I stood victorious. The mockery and humiliation seemed to have struck a chord, and for a moment, he just stared at us, his eyes blazing with fury. Then, suddenly, he yelled, "DAMN IT!" I couldn't help it. The outburst was so dramatic, so over-the-top, that I burst out laughing. Ochaco joined in, and even Bakugo and Deku cracked a smile. Dabi's face turned an even deeper shade of red as he realized he was being laughed at. He took a step forward, his fists clenched, but I held up a hand, still chuckling. "Remember my name, Vesper dummy," I said, grinning at him. The words seemed to have a profound effect on Dabi, and his eyes widened in shock. I couldn't help but laugh even harder at his reaction. Ochaco joined in, and soon we were both holding our sides, tears streaming down our faces. Dabi's face twisted in a snarl, but for a moment, he seemed frozen in place, unsure of how to react. Then, with a growl, he turned and stormed off, leaving us to our laughter. As we finally calmed down, Ochaco turned to me and smiled. "Vesper dummy, huh?" she said, chuckling. I grinned back at her. "Hey, it's a nickname, okay? Don't go spreading it around." Bakugo snorted. "Too late for that, Vesper. I think we've got a new nickname for you." Deku looked on, a confused expression on his face. "Wait, what's going on? Who's Vesper?" Ochaco and I exchanged a look, and then I said, "Just a little inside joke, Deku. Don't worry about it." But Deku's curiosity was piqued, and he looked at me with a questioning expression. "Vesper, huh? I think I'm going to have to ask you about that later." I just grinned and shook my head. "You can ask me about it later, Deku. But for now, let's just enjoy the fact that we outsmarted Dabi." As we walked away from the scene, Ochaco turned to me and whispered, "You know, Vesper dummy, I think we're going to get along just fine." I smiled back at her, feeling a sense of camaraderie with my new friend. "I think you're right, Ochaco. Let's see what other adventures we can get into."
