Chapter 32: A Day Out
Part 31
A Day Out was exactly what Jacquie needed, a chance to get out of the house and clear her head. She walked into the kitchen, where Noah was sitting at the table, sipping a cup of coffee. "Hey, I'm thinking of going to the shops today," she said, trying to sound casual. "I need to pick up some groceries and snacks." Noah looked up at her, his eyes questioning. "Okay, do you want me to come with you?" he asked. Jacquie shook her head. "No, I think I'm going to go with Emily," she said, referring to her friend. "We can catch up and make a day of it." Noah nodded, his expression understanding. "That sounds like fun," he said. "You deserve a day out, you've been cooped up in this house for too long." Jacquie smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "Yeah, I think you're right," she said. "I just need to get out and get some fresh air." Noah stood up and walked over to her, pulling her into a hug. "Have a good time, okay?" he said, his voice low and gentle. Jacquie hugged him back, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him. "I will, thanks," she said. A few minutes later, Jacquie was getting ready to leave, putting on her shoes and grabbing her purse. Emily was waiting for her outside, and they had plans to meet at the mall. As Jacquie walked out the door, she felt a sense of excitement. She was looking forward to spending the day with her friend, and getting out of the house. She took a deep breath, feeling the fresh air fill her lungs, and smiled to herself. The drive to the mall was quick, and Jacquie was chatting with Emily before they even left the parking lot. "So, how's it going?" Emily asked, glancing over at Jacquie. Jacquie shrugged. "It's going," she said. "I'm just trying to take things one day at a time." Emily nodded, her expression understanding. "I know how you feel," she said. "But you're not alone, Jacquie. I'm here for you, and Noah is too." Jacquie smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her friend. "Thanks, Em," she said. "That means a lot to me." As they walked into the mall, Jacquie felt a sense of freedom. She was out, and she was having fun, and for now, that was all that mattered.
