Voting and Confrontations
Part 3
The voting started, and player456 was the first one made to vote. He walked up to the designated area, his eyes scanning the room with a mix of determination and desperation. With a swift motion, he picked up the X patch and stuck it to the Velcro on his uniform, signaling his decision to leave the game. "I want out," he declared, his voice firm. The room fell silent, with all eyes on player456. The next player in line, player100, stepped forward, his eyes fixed on player456. "Hey, 456, how did you know we could die in here?" he asked, his voice laced with skepticism. Player456 hesitated, his eyes darting around the room. "I just knew, okay?" Player100 pressed on, his tone becoming more aggressive. "No, seriously, how did you know? Did someone tell you?" The room began to stir, with players exchanging whispers and suspicious glances. Player456's face reddened, his voice rising. "Just drop it, okay?" The questioning continued, with more players chiming in, their voices growing louder. The atmosphere in the room became increasingly tense, until player456's face contorted in frustration. "I'm telling you, I've played these games before!" he screamed, shocking the room into silence. Gasps and murmurs erupted, with players exchanging stunned glances. Player100 took a step forward, his eyes narrowed. "If you've played before, why are you here again? Didn't they give you your money?" Player456's face fell, his eyes welling up with tears. "That's not the point! The point is, these games need to stop. They kill 455 people every year, and I'm here to try and put a stop to it." The room erupted into chaos, with players arguing and shouting. The guards stepped in, their voices firm. "Enough! You'll continue voting in reverse order. If you don't, someone will die." The room fell silent once more, with players reluctantly returning to the voting area. Jongwoo's heart was racing as he waited for his turn. When it finally arrived, he walked up to the voting area, picked up the X patch, and stuck it to his uniform. He joined the growing X section of the room, his eyes scanning the crowd. The votes were neck and neck, with only player001 left to decide the outcome. The old man's eyes seemed to bore into Jongwoo's soul as he walked up to the voting area. With a calm, deliberate motion, player001 picked up the O patch and stuck it to his uniform. The room fell silent, with players realizing they were stuck. As the voting ended, Jongwoo trudged back to his bunk, feeling defeated and nervous. Some players were grouping up, including player456, who had managed to gather players001, 390, and 388 around him. Jongwoo sat alone on his bunk, his eyes fixed on the floor. That was when he noticed a tall, purple-haired figure walking towards him, with player124 sauntering behind. "Hey, aren't you MGCoin?" Thanos asked, his voice loud and accusatory. "The crypto scammer who ruined my life and career?" Jongwoo's heart sank as he nodded, his eyes darting to the side. Before he could react, Thanos grabbed him by the shirt, lifting him off the ground. "You owe me, MGCoin," Thanos screamed, his face twisted in rage. "You're going to pay for what you did to me." As Thanos hurled Jongwoo to the floor, player124 joined in, kicking and punching Jongwoo. The scene quickly descended into chaos, with players watching in horror. Just as it seemed like Jongwoo was in grave danger, player001 stepped in, his eyes blazing with anger. "That's enough," he growled, his voice firm. "You're acting like a couple of animals. It's not right to gang up on someone like that." Thanos sneered, but player001's words were laced with a warning. "Save the lecture for your grandkids, old man," he spat. The old man's response was swift and decisive. He grabbed the side of Thanos' neck, pulling him down. Player124 tried to intervene, but a brutal kick to the shins sent him retreating. Thanos and player124 backed down, their faces reddened with anger and embarrassment. Player001 turned to Jongwoo, helping him to his feet. "Are you okay?" he asked, his eyes softening. Jongwoo nodded, still shaken. As he walked back to his bunk, he noticed player001 watching him, a hint of a smile on his face. The room began to clear, with players returning to their bunks. Jongwoo couldn't shake the feeling that his life was about to become even more complicated.
