"Trapped in the Darkness"
Part 7
As Myung-gi re-entered the sleeping hall, the announcement that lights out was just five minutes away brought a sense of relief. He could finally escape Young-il's suffocating presence and find some solace in the quiet of the night. With a newfound excuse, Myung-gi excused himself to his bed under the bunks. Gi-hun had insisted that everyone move their mattress under the bunk frame, and that somebody had to take night watch, so earlier in the night they had all rearranged their beds. Myung-gi had asked if he had to sleep anywhere specific, and they had said no, so he went in search of a secluded spot. He found the mattress that was the farthest from the others, with only one mattress directly beside it to the left if you lay on the bed. Myung-gi slipped his shoes and jacket off and slid under the thin covers, bracing himself for a cold night. He closed his eyes, trying his hardest to sleep as quickly as possible, but his body tensed up at the thought of Young-il's looming presence. Just as he was starting to drift off, Myung-gi felt somebody push their mattress closer to his and slip under their covers. He opened his eyes and looked over, only to see that it was Young-il. The lights were officially off, leaving only a soft yellow glow in the room, but even in the dim light, Myung-gi could tell that Young-il was staring directly at him. Myung-gi tried to ignore him and go to sleep, but it was hard to relax with Young-il beside him. As the minutes ticked by, Myung-gi began to shiver, and he could feel Young-il watching him still. Suddenly, he felt his covers get gently removed, and Myung-gi jolted up in confusion. Before he could react, Young-il wrapped his arms around Myung-gi's body, pulling him directly against his chest. Myung-gi's back was pressed against Young-il's warm body, and both of their covers were wrapped around them. Young-il's strong grip held Myung-gi in place, making it impossible for him to move. Myung-gi tried to struggle, but he didn't budge an inch. Young-il's warmth was seeping into his chilled body, and he had to admit that it was working. However, the thought of being held by a man he had met less than a day ago made Myung-gi's skin crawl. As the darkness enveloped them, Myung-gi's mind racing with thoughts of escape, he felt Young-il's steady heartbeat against his back. He was trapped, and for the moment, it seemed like there was no way out. The silence was oppressive, and Myung-gi could feel Young-il's eyes on him, watching him even in the darkness. He closed his eyes, trying to shut out the world, but he knew that he couldn't escape the reality of his situation.
