A Change in Perspective

Part 9

Lewis watched Helen hurry out of his trailer, a mix of emotions swirling inside him. He had been enjoying their banter, and for a moment, he thought he saw a spark of something more. But her hasty exit told a different story. It seemed she wasn't interested. As he sat down on the couch, Lewis couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. He had been looking forward to getting to know her better, to seeing if there was a connection between them. But it seemed that wasn't meant to be. However, as he thought about it more, Lewis realized that maybe this wasn't the end of things between them. Maybe they could just be friends. He had always valued his friendships, and he thought Helen seemed like someone he could really talk to. Lewis got up and walked over to the mini bar in his trailer. He poured himself a glass of water and sat back down on the couch, taking a sip as he thought about Helen. He hoped that they could still be friends, at least for now. He liked her spirit and her sense of humor, and he thought they could have a lot of fun together. The next morning, Lewis walked onto the set, greeting the crew and cast with his usual charm. He spotted Helen across the way, busily directing the setup of the cameras. He smiled to himself, hoping to catch her eye and maybe even talk to her later. As the day went on, Lewis found himself glancing over at Helen more and more. He was happy to see that she was doing well, and he was impressed by her professionalism. He made a mental note to talk to her later, to see if they could indeed just be friends. At lunchtime, Lewis walked over to Helen's trailer, hoping to catch her alone for a minute. He knocked on the door, and when she called out for him to come in, he did. "Hey, Helen," he said, smiling at her. "How's it going?" Helen looked up from her paperwork, a hint of a smile on her face. "It's going," she said. "Just trying to get everything ready for today." Lewis nodded, taking a seat in the chair across from her desk. "You're doing a great job, as always," he said. "I'm really glad you're on this production." Helen smiled, looking pleased. "Thanks, Lewis. That means a lot coming from you." Lewis leaned back in his chair, trying to think of a way to broach the subject of their earlier encounter. "So, I wanted to talk to you about something," he said. "I know you kind of... took off on me earlier." Helen looked up, a hint of embarrassment on her face. "I'm sorry about that," she said. "I just... I didn't mean to rush off." Lewis waved his hand. "No need to apologize," he said. "I just wanted to make sure everything was okay. And I have to admit, I was a little disappointed." Helen looked at him curiously. "Disappointed?" she repeated. Lewis nodded. "Yeah. I was looking forward to getting to know you better. But I figure maybe we can just be friends instead." Helen's expression softened, and she smiled at him. "I'd like that," she said. Lewis grinned back at her, feeling a sense of relief. Maybe this wasn't the end of things between them after all. Maybe they could just start something new.
