Chapter 56: An Explosion of Enthusiasm

Part 56

Inasa grins so wide and bright he looks like the sun. He's so extreme. He doesn't talk, he shouts, he doesn't walk, he runs, he's just constantly doing everything at the maximum level of energy and it's a bit disorienting. But also funny; and honestly endearing. Besides, maybe being next to someone so enthusiastic will do you some good: you are kind of mellow, most of the times. Not your fault the situations you usually find yourself into don't require your maximum attention: they are... stupid, from an adult's point of view. "Perfect!" Yoarashi laughs, his eyes sparkling like fireworks. "Thank you, (Y/N)-chan!" Why is he thanking me? I think to myself, still a bit dazed from his sudden outburst. "Yes, of course... Inasa-kun," I mumble, trying out the unfamiliar honorific. It's foreign on my tongue. The only other person I refer to in such a close way is Izuku, but I've known him for three years by now. It's a completely different matter. Yoarashi lights up like a Christmas tree though, so I guess it's fine. I could get used to it. "Awesome!" He shouts, pumping his fist in the air. "Then let's become great heroes together, alright?!" I open my mouth to respond, but he's too fast. "I told you, I am not sure yet-" I try to interrupt, but he talks right over me. "Don't worry about danger! As your colleague hero and friend, I'll protect you!" He shoots his fist up into the air, a huge grin still plastered on his face. "Plus ultra!" he bellows, the words echoing through the air. I gape at him, taken aback by his infectious energy. My parents, who had been watching the exchange with wide eyes, can't help but chuckle at Inasa's antics. I glance at them, feeling a bit self-conscious, but they just smile and nod at me. It seems they're okay with this... extreme... new friend of mine.
