A New Journey Begins
Part 5
Max was still fixated on Link's lifeless body, his small mind consumed by the concept of death. "But, sis, why is Link not waking up?" he asked, his voice laced with confusion. "He was just fighting, and then he fell down. Why can't he get up?" I sighed, trying to think of a way to explain it to a five-year-old. But before I could respond, Max continued, "Is he... is he sleeping? But he's not moving. And his eyes are closed. And... and... he's not breathing." I knelt down beside him, trying to comfort him again. "Max, sweetie, Link is... he's gone. And we need to focus on helping the other Links." But Max was too caught up in his own thoughts. "But why, sis? Why did he have to go? And what about the other Links? Are they all gone too?" I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. We couldn't stay here any longer. We had to move on to the next world, and hope that the Link there was still alive. I glanced at Zelda, who nodded in understanding. "Okay, Max," I said, trying to sound cheerful. "It's time for us to go to a new world. Are you ready?" Max looked up at me, his eyes still red from crying. But then, a small smile played on his lips. "Yeah! I wanna go see Uncle Leo and Aunt Addie!" I smiled, relieved that he was starting to snap out of it. "That's right, buddy! We're going to visit the world of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse." Max's eyes lit up. "Yay! I love that world! And I get to see Uncle Leo and Aunt Addie!" I nodded, helping him to his feet. "That's right. And Aunt Addie loves playing Fortnite with us. Remember, she's Addie, and she says 'Let's get this dub!'" Max giggled. "Let's get this dub! I love Aunt Addie!" I smiled, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. We were going to get through this, together. And with Max's favorite world waiting for us, I knew we could face whatever came next. "Okay, buddy," I said, holding out my hand. "Are you ready to go visit Uncle Leo and Aunt Addie?" Max took my hand, and together we stepped through the portal, leaving the sorrow of this world behind. As we emerged on the other side, Max looked up at me with a huge grin on his face. "I'm ready, sis! Let's go!"
