Breaking the Bond

Part 26

Maya's heart sank as Edward led her to a secluded spot, away from prying eyes and ears. The trees towered above them, their leaves rustling softly in the breeze, but Maya's mind was a jumble of emotions, her thoughts racing with the implications of her confession. Edward's expression was somber, his eyes clouded with concern, as he turned to face her. "Maya, I know you're not in love with Jasper," he said, his voice low and gentle. "You've made it clear that your heart belongs to Nick and Sabrina. But as your friend, I have to tell you that being true mates with Jasper comes with certain... obligations." Maya felt a pang of guilt, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. She had never meant to lead Jasper on, but she had been so caught up in her own emotions, her own confusion, that she hadn't known how to extricate herself. "What do I do, Edward?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't want to hurt Jasper, but I don't feel the same way about him. I only want to be with Nick and Sabrina." Edward's gaze softened, his eyes filled with empathy. "I understand," he said. "And I'm here to help you. Breaking a true mate bond is not easy, but it can be done. You just need to know the right steps to take." Maya's heart skipped a beat as she listened to Edward's words, her mind racing with hope. Maybe, just maybe, she could find a way out of this complicated situation, a way to follow her heart without hurting anyone. "First, you need to understand that the bond between you and Jasper is a powerful one," Edward said, his voice serious. "It was forged in a moment of intense emotion, and it's not something that can be broken easily. But there are ways to... sever it, I suppose." Maya leaned forward, her ears straining to hear every word. "What do I need to do?" she asked, her voice filled with determination. Edward's expression was somber. "You need to find a way to release Jasper from his obligations to you," he said. "You need to let him go, completely and utterly. And that means you need to perform a ritual, a ritual that will sever the bond between you two." Maya's heart was racing, her mind reeling with the implications. She had never heard of such a ritual, but she was willing to try anything to free herself from the bond with Jasper. "What's the ritual?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Edward's gaze locked onto hers, his eyes burning with intensity. "You need to gather certain herbs, certain sacred objects," he said. "And you need to perform the ritual under the light of the full moon. It's a powerful and ancient ritual, one that will require great focus and determination." Maya nodded, her heart pounding with excitement. She was ready to do whatever it took to break the bond with Jasper, to follow her heart and be with the people she truly loved. She was ready to take control of her life, to make her own decisions, and to forge her own path. And with Edward's guidance, she knew she could do it.
