The Throne of Deception

Part 10

Kirsten's eyes fluttered open, and she was met with the gaze of Zur, his face inches from hers. She blinked, trying to clear the haze from her mind, but her memories of the past few hours were hazy. She recalled making love to Warp, and then...and then nothing. She tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over her, forcing her to lie back down. Zur's smile grew wider as he leaned back in his throne, his fingers still brushing against her cheek. "Welcome, Kirsten," he said, his voice low and husky. "I've been waiting for you." Kirsten's gaze darted to Warp, who stood beside Zur's throne, his expression unreadable. She tried to speak, but her voice caught in her throat. Zur's eyes gleamed with amusement as he leaned forward, his face inches from Kirsten's. "You have a unique genetic makeup, Kirsten," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "One that could hold the key to unlocking the secrets of the ancient technology that once thrived on this planet." Kirsten's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with questions. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Zur's smile grew wider as he leaned back in his throne. "You see, Kirsten, your ancestors were part of a group of scientists who were brought to this planet centuries ago. They were tasked with unlocking the secrets of the ancient technology, but they were not the only ones. There were others, those who sought to exploit the technology for their own gain." Kirsten's eyes locked onto Zur's, her mind reeling with the implications. "What does this have to do with me?" she asked, her voice firm. Zur's eyes gleamed with excitement as he leaned forward, his face inches from Kirsten's. "You, Kirsten, are the last living heir of the scientists who were brought to this planet. And your genetic makeup holds the key to unlocking the secrets of the ancient technology." Kirsten's gaze darted to Warp, who stood beside Zur's throne, his expression still unreadable. She felt a sense of unease, a sense that she was in grave danger. She tried to sit up again, but Zur's hand shot out, his fingers closing around her wrist. "Don't try to leave just yet, Kirsten," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "We have much to discuss."
