Electric Tension

Part 188

The air was electric with tension as Kaminari's conversation with me came to a close, and he took a deep breath, his eyes darting to Bakugo before returning to me. "Honestly, let me just tell you the truth," he said, his voice low and serious. "I like you, Vesper. I really do." His words sent a flutter through my chest, and I felt my cheeks heat up. Bakugo's eyes snapped to Kaminari, his gaze piercing and intense. I could almost feel the anger radiating from him, and I wondered what he would do if Kaminari continued. Kaminari, however, seemed undeterred, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "But," he continued, "I feel like if I kiss you, I'm going to get beat to a pulp by Bakugo." He glanced at Bakugo, who was now frowning, his eyes narrowed in warning. Mina, who had been quietly observing the exchange, suddenly piped up, her voice pouting. "You're a wimp, Kaminari!" She crossed her arms over her chest, her eyes flashing with disappointment. Kaminari chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Hey, I'm just being realistic," he said, holding up his hands in defense. "I don't want to get on Bakugo's bad side." Bakugo snorted, his eyes rolling in disgust. "You think you can just talk to her like that and I'll let you get away with it?" he growled, his voice low and menacing. I felt a surge of frustration, wondering why Bakugo was being so possessive and aggressive. But at the same time, I couldn't deny the thrill of excitement that ran through me at his words. It was clear that he felt strongly about me, and that realization sent a flutter through my chest. Mina, however, seemed to think that Kaminari's confession was the most entertaining thing she had ever heard. She was giggling, her eyes shining with amusement, and I couldn't help but laugh along with her. The tension in the air was still palpable, but for a moment, it seemed to dissipate, replaced by a sense of camaraderie and friendship. But I knew that this was far from over, and that the drama was only just beginning.
