A Week of Solitude

Part 38

The next morning, Yeonjun sat across from Taehyun at the breakfast table, his laptop open in front of him as he checked his emails. Taehyun sipped his coffee, watching as Yeonjun's expression turned serious. "I have some bad news," Yeonjun said, his voice apologetic. "I just got a call from my boss, and I have to go on a business trip for a week." Taehyun's heart sank, but he tried to put on a brave face. "That's okay, I understand," he said, trying to sound casual. Yeonjun reached out and took his hand, his eyes locked onto Taehyun's. "I'm sorry, I was really looking forward to spending more time with you. But I'll be back before you know it, and we can pick up where we left off." As Yeonjun got ready to leave, Taehyun walked him to the door, feeling a pang of loneliness as he watched Yeonjun drive away. He went back to his apartment, feeling a sense of emptiness wash over him. The silence was almost deafening, and Taehyun found himself wandering around the apartment, searching for something to do. As he looked around, his eyes landed on his old gaming console, collecting dust in the corner of the living room. He hadn't played in months, but something about it called to him now. He booted up the console, and the familiar sounds of his favorite games filled the air. Taehyun settled in, feeling a sense of comfort wash over him as he lost himself in the virtual world. Hours passed, and Taehyun found himself getting sucked back into his old habits. He spent the rest of the day playing games, watching TV, and snacking on junk food. It was mindless, but it was comforting, and Taehyun felt himself relaxing into the routine. As the night drew to a close, Taehyun realized that he had a whole week of solitude ahead of him. He could do whatever he wanted, and no one would judge him. The thought was both exhilarating and terrifying, and Taehyun wasn't sure what to make of it. But for now, he was content to just sit back, relax, and let the world drift by. The days blended together, and Taehyun fell into a comfortable routine. He slept in late, played games, and watched TV. He cooked simple meals, and spent hours browsing social media. It was a lazy, indulgent existence, and Taehyun felt himself growing more and more complacent with each passing day. But as the days went by, Taehyun started to feel a twinge of guilt. He had been making progress, slowly but surely, and now it seemed like he was taking a step back. He thought about Yeonjun, and how much he had enjoyed their time together. He wondered what Yeonjun would think if he knew what Taehyun was up to. The thought was enough to make Taehyun pause, and he looked around his cluttered apartment, feeling a sense of unease wash over him. Was this really what he wanted? Or was he just using it as a distraction from his own thoughts and feelings? Taehyun wasn't sure, but he knew that he had a week to figure it out.
