**The Call of Xylon**

Part 8

As the RLS Legacy soared through the galaxy, Sol's thoughts began to wander back to her home planet, Xylon. She had been trying to push the memories aside, focusing on the excitement of their journey to Treasure Planet, but she couldn't shake the feeling of longing that had been growing inside her. Her caramel skin seemed to glow in the soft light of the cockpit, and her hazel eyes took on a faraway look as she gazed out at the stars. The stars shone brightly outside the cockpit, and Sol's eyes drifted to the viewscreen, where the planet Xylophia-IV hung like a purple and green gem in the distance. Sol's heart skipped a beat as she gazed at the planet, memories flooding back to her. She remembered the warm sun on her skin, the scent of the blooming wildflowers, and the sound of her family's laughter. Sol's feline features seemed to sharpen as she shifted uncomfortably in her seat, her curvy physique relaxing as she let out a gentle sigh. Her long, messy curly honey brown hair with magenta highlights seemed to ripple in the gentle hum of the engines, and her sweet round face took on a contemplative look. She had always loved her home planet, with its lush forests and rolling hills. But most of all, she missed her family and the sense of connection she felt to her people, the Xyloxians. As a Xyloxian, Sol had the ability to shift into a wild cat, a lion with a shimmering golden coat and piercing green eyes. It was a part of her heritage, a symbol of her people's connection to the natural world. Sol's eyes seemed to gleam with a soft, inner light as she remembered the thrill of shifting, of feeling the power and freedom that came with it. But as she gazed out at the stars, Sol's thoughts turned to the challenges she faced. She was torn between her loyalty to Jim and her connection to her people. She had always dreamed of attending the Space Academy, of exploring the galaxy and discovering new worlds. But now, she was on a quest to find treasure, and she wasn't sure what that meant for her future. Jim, sensing her unease, reached out and took her hand. "Hey, Sol, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice soft and concerned. Sol smiled, trying to shake off the melancholy. "Just thinking about home," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Jim squeezed her hand gently. "We'll get there, Sol," he said. "We'll find the treasure, and then you can go back to Xylon, or do whatever you want." Sol's eyes met Jim's, and she felt a surge of gratitude towards him. She knew that he didn't understand her people's unique abilities, or the depth of her connection to Xylon. But he was trying, and that meant everything to her. As they flew through the cosmos, Sol's thoughts turned to her grandmother, who had taught her everything she knew about their people's history and traditions. Sol's grandmother had been a wise and kind woman, with a deep understanding of the natural world. She had taught Sol how to shift, how to communicate with animals, and how to live in harmony with the land. Sol's eyes seemed to gleam with a soft, inner light as she remembered her grandmother's stories, stories of the ancient Xyloxians and their connection to the earth. Sol's heart felt a pang of longing, and she knew that she had to find a way to reconcile her love for Jim and her quest for treasure with her connection to her people and her home planet. The RLS Legacy cruised on, carrying Sol and Jim deeper into the unknown. Sol's thoughts swirled, a mix of emotions and memories that she couldn't quite untangle. But as she gazed out at the stars, she knew that she was on a journey of discovery, one that would take her to the very heart of her own identity. Sol's bangles jingled softly as she shifted in her seat, and her pretty gold hoop earrings seemed to glint in the soft light of the cockpit. She felt a sense of peace wash over her, a sense of connection to her people and her planet. And she knew that no matter where their journey took them, she would always be true to herself, and to her heart.
